Nika's Hair Studio in Ellicott City, MD

There is no time like the present to write one's first Yelp review. Nika's Salon closed and she moved into the recently opened Zika's Salon next door. My aunt has occasionally had her hair done at Nika's over the past couple of years, apparently unlike some of the Nika's clients who come weekly, monthly, every six-eight weeks, which means they apparently get preferred, excellent service and styling as opposed to someone who comes less frequently and is a less deserving customer. My aunt works long days and hours, and when she can get some time off, I will pick her up or meet her. This week is the last time she will visit Nika. Despite having made an appointment, it seems the appointment time was double booked. The other client was taken care of first. No explanation or apology. One and one-half hours later my aunt was finally in the chair. More than two hours later than expected to leave the salon, she finally got out. I was scheduled to take her to another appointment, which was missed and had to be rescheduled. Thankfully she was not penalized for having to miss that and reschedule it. She would have gotten up and left had it not been the condition her hair was in and she was embarrassed and decided to ride it out. My aunt commented on how much time Nika spent with the other client and was barely interested in her. Talked constantly with other clients who had arrived. See the review of 2014. My aunt's hair was not styled well and the entire set fell within an hour of leaving the salon. Bet the other client's hair will last a full week until she goes back for her next weekly appointment because Nika doted on her needs. Couldn't wait for my aunt to get out of the chair. Couldn't have cared less. There have been a few other similar appointments where she waited well over an hour plus for her appointment. On some appointments her hair looked lovely, which is why she returned. She was gritting her teeth when she left the salon this time. A day ruined. Seriously, if you only want to take care of your regulars, then don't book those who come every couple of months or so that you don't value.

I had my first pedicure and manicure experience here. It was amazing. They have changed the owner but the quality never change. The most satisfying thing was the pedicure for me. I was about to take a nap on that chair. Thank you Anna and Zeliha!

I have looked for over a year to find a salon and stylist that listens as well as offers advice. I have not been thrilled with a color and cut when I left the salon not to mention the next morning! I have found my new go-to place! Some of the kindest and best talent in one location! Sam is so absolutely talented!

Always enjoy getting my hair done! Zeliha is wonderful. Ayten is fabulous. All around great customer service in a fun environment!

Ayten has been threading my eyebrows for many years. She ALWAYS does a beautiful job. I will never go anywhere else to get them done. If she ever moves, I'm following her (:p, not in a stalker-ish way at all!). All jokes aside, she's wonderful. I love all the ladies that work her. Everyone is so friendly! I always get an appointment for the time i ask. Love this place!
