JCPenney Salon in Wheaton, MD

I have mixed feelings about this Sephora. Located on the third floor in the middle of JCPenney, it's smaller and has limited selection. Some of the brands/items were being discontinued at this location only (ie. Tarte, Urban Decay), so several shelves were cleared out on my first visit. At my latest visit, the shelves were fully stocked and the store didn't look like it was going out of business. Customer service was super helpful. I needed assistance finding the right foundation and concealer shades and one of the associates gave me guidance and swatches to try on. When I asked about certain products, she was knowledgeable about which ones they carried and would verify if they had them in stock. Out of convenience, I left spending a pretty penny on a few items based on what they had... makeup is not cheap, people! While the Sephora rewards program still applies where you can accumulate points and redeem for perks, this is a JCPenney shop so the receipt says "JCPenney" instead of "Sephora." The return policy is more restrictive as a result - Sephora returns purchased at JCPenney Sephoras must be returned at JCPenney Sephoras (not any Sephora location, and vice versa). They do seem to be understaffed and not always attentive of the register. I observed several instances where customers standing at the register were ignored until they went to go and grab an employee. A service bell would be helpful if they're not going to man the register all the time. Between the JCPenney Sephora and a regular Sephora, the latter is definitely the way to go, but this location was passable in a pinch.

Very rude ladies here. Totally ignored my mom who was waiting in line. I guess they would rather help young people...worthless location and management obviously doesn't care.

The worst customer service ever. When you walk in, no one greets you or ask if you require help. The employees engage in conversations amongst each other and their friends that pop into the store. I had to wait in line in order to ask for help before purchasing; just to grab an employees attention. The young man greeted me and quickly ignored me once a friend came by to say hi. I stood there in disbelief because this is not the first time I've had a bad experience here. Once his conversation was over with his friend, I kindly told him how bad the service was at this location. I will not be going back here even if it is the closest Sephora.

I got matched and found everything I was looking for within 20 minutes. Janine was very helpful and answered all of my makeup questions. I would definitely recommend this location because the staff was very helpful.

The worst customer service I have experienced in a while. The staff was engaged in personal conversations and not attentive to the customers. The place was a mess and barely any products were available.
