I love this place. I've been coming once every month or two for the past three years while I've been growing out my hair. They consistently do an excellent job, stylists are professional and friendly, I look and feel good when I leave! Disclaimer- I pretty much never curl or blow dry my hair on my own, nor do I color it, so I feel really fancy and appreciative when I leave and look good for a date or wrong event. So glad these folks are here!

Overall I would say my experience at the Wow Bar was not a positive one. I was originally very excited to be there and have a day of pampering. It seemed to me that their website is very out of date and so are their screens in the salon. I would like to mention that prior to my appointment I tried to reach the Wow Bar to find out their cancellation policy since I couldn't find it listed on their website or any social media. I decided to try calling and every time it failed once I clicked the number to be connected to their St. Paul location. I read a review saying that they responded on Instagram so I sent a message through the app. No response. But I let it go and went in for my appointment anyways. The service was a good length and the girl who did my hair was friendly. I left feeling better than I was expecting. But then things went down hill. Not even 24 hours after my appointment and the style already looks awful. I was expecting it to stay much better than this and at other salons I've been to my hair has stayed for days so to not even last 12 hours is a huge dissapointment and waste of money. Oh wait it gets worse. I look at my credit card statement to find that they charged me the $45 TWICE! I figured it would get fixed but I just received a call where they said the payment wasn't processed and I need to call and update my card basically saying it's my fault it didn't go through. Now because their phone doesn't work I can't even call back to get it fixed. I'm so disgusted with the way things have been left. There is no communication and I will never be back.

Last night I decided to get a blowout because I need to wear a beanie that goes with my Halloween Costume, and my hair is normally big and has a lot of volume to it which doesn't allow a hat to stay on. I made my appointment on their website. It gave me different time options: The last 3 start times were, 2:30pm CT, 4:45pm CT, 5:30pm CT. The one that worked best for me was at 5:30pm. The Service options, according to their website are 'Extension Blowout (60 min, $50.00), Shampoo/Blowdry (45 min, $45.00), or Shampoo/Blowdry 1 hour-Long/Thick Hair (60 min, $45.00). I choose the Shampoo/Blowdry 1 hour-Long/Thick Hair. Because I know I have longer and thicker hair than the average person. See pictures for details if you want. You have to put a card on file, to 'reserve' your appt. That is normal like the other Blow Dry Bar's I 've tried out. One Friday (10.25.19) evening, when I booked the appt. I had received a call from the location. They noted that the appt I booked was in the middle of another appt. They asked if I was able to move my appt up and it start at 5pm. I said that was fine, but explained that the website had those options available. They expressed understanding and stated that their website is a little out of sorts right now. Yesterday I arrived 10 minutes before my appt time, and I politely waited in their waiting area. They had a very White, Clean Vibe going. However, with darker hair shed on the ground it was easier to see, and not a horrible thing, but something they should be mindful of. I used the restroom while waiting, and it is a single bathroom, very clean and I appreciated that. My appt started, and the stylist brushed out my hair, and told me that my hair is longer than expected, and I should have booked the "Extra-Extra" option, which is the Option I picked PLUS each Additional 15 minutes, it's $15.00. I didn't see that option, so I wasn't able too. So now I'm going to have to pay more because their website is 'Out of Sorts' according to them while I was booking previously. Not really happy about that, especially since I know I can go elsewhere and pick the hour long option and pay $45.00. No Extra-Extra. The stylist stated that we will use today as a 'test' for future appts should I choose to book again. I was okay with that, but didn't really know if that mean I would have to pay more today if she goes over an hour. We moved to the washing station, and they had the Beaded Gem Curtains up to 'section' off that area, it was very old school. It didn't bother me, but it kind of knocked down the 'classy' feeling for how expensive they are. The wash was nice, I was given a preference of shampoo (didn't cost extra that I know of-it was seemed like it was put in place for concern if I had chemicals in my hair already). The next option given was a 'cold' rinse after all of the shampoo/conditioner was rinsed out with warm water (again I don't know if it would have cost more because I didn't chose that, but the tone seemed like it would have, even though it shouldn't be). The stylist didn't have nails, so she didn't really scrub as well as I know a scrub could be, but I'm over it. One thing I did notice, is the pattern. It seemed like they have a 'technique they need to follow' so that they are uniform in their washing. It felt like I was getting a 'figure eight' traced in my scalp and after it was repeated once, it was over and we were on to the rinse. The towels wrapped around my neck and hair were heated, and really nice! That was a pleasant surprise. Once washed, we moved back to the chair to get brushed, blow dried and styled. I didn't need to look at a 'look book' but they do have one, if you don't know how you want your hair styled. I told the lady that I may fall asleep, because I love it when people play with my hair, it is so relaxing. She was very nice and was find with it. I didn't feel the need to talk, and was able to just RELAX. That was the best part for sure. My style took 55 minutes. She noted that it could have been because I picked the 'straight-straight' option. But again for future reference if I choose something else I would need to book the "Extra-Extra" option. They do prefer Cash Tips, but are able to take Card tips. I didn't realize I didn't have cash on me, so that is my bad, but good to know. The pictures I posted are of my hair right after and the day after. The photo with the Arrows on it, is where the stylist mentioned if the average 'long/thick' hair client and is who that option is for Anyone else with shorter hair would be the lesser version, and anyone with longer would be the "Extra-Extra" option. Overall, I would come back, it was a nice and relaxing experience. Thank you!

I was in on Saturday for hair and make-up. First of all - it's great that they actually have "short hair" listed on their service menu. Teyna (I'm likely mis-spelling her name) was amazing - turning my asymmetrical pixie into a mass of curls. I had a couple of pics of Jana Shortal as an example and she nailed it. The style had staying power. The make-up was also right on - I had the "me, but enhanced" look I was after. I have never had so many compliments on my look....now...how often can I get away with doing this?

Blow dry was mediocre. They were fast and the shampoo was wonderful the blow out itself was just ok. I've had worst and i've had better. Definitely didn't last as long as the blow out's I get elsewhere.
