Great Clips in New City, NY

In two visits, the haircuts have been terrible. Uneven as can be. Very unhappy.

I rarely leave negative reviews. However, the OWNER (that how he identified himself) of this store was just so Nasty that it must be addressed. Long story short, there was a small complaint we wanted to make directly to the store. Instead, it was met with surprising, sudden, almost verbally abusive, inappropriate defensiveness and nasty verbal behavior I would not expect from a manager or owner of a store. It was worse than u can imagine. the problem is, not only was the haircut poor and the woman doing the cut did not listen to pretty simple directions, instead of the apology we expected and is all we wanted, he told us we were "BANISHED" from the store. However, we have a gift card we were given that now a decent sum of money is going in the trash, the same place this owner's mouth comes from.

I have gone here several times already. The stylists are good. I usually get a very easy cut but I have seen other people in there get more complicated styles and they looked great. PROS: They do exactly what you ask them to do. They are inexpensive. They save in their computer system the details of your previous cut. They are pretty fast and efficient. There is a huge parking lot. It is in a convenient location. You do not need an appointment. CONS: You can not really choose the stylist you get. One of the stylists cut my hair using a technique that does not work well with my hair type/ texture, but I didn't know that at the time. But ever since then I just tell them to do a different method and it's fine. I wish they had coupons on the back of the Stop and Shop receipts again like they used to ;)

I'm only giving one star because zero stars is not an option. I walked in and walked out in a matter of minutes with my 13 y/o daughter without getting her hair cut and I have been to this location many times before, but no more. I have never seen the same employee more than once. Today's employee was finished with one customer and went to the register to check us in (there was no one else there). She asked for my name. I spelled it. She asked again. I spelled it again. In a frustrated tone she spelled it and I corrected a letter to which she said in an exasperated tone, "Start again." I said why don't I just write it down for you and she got really annoyed and said "I'm not stupid, just spell it!" So I spell it again slowly and she got totally nasty and said "Excuuuuse me for not getting it, I'm a little hard of hearing, jeez...Now it was...." and then she launches into attitude mode again and keeps making rude comments. I just got up and left, i don't need this nonsense for a quickie haircut. As I was leaving the store she's STILL hurling rude comments and now the other one sweeping up is piling on too. All this to check in??? Not worth it. They don't need my last name anyway. Just sit her in the chair and do the deed! No problem though. Corporate and the franchise owner were given my last name.

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. I never EVER write negative reviews but I felt this needed to be addressed. I have been to this location over a dozen times being that its a local place I can walk in without an appointment, but I never got my hair cut, only wash and styled, which were good about 3/4 of the time. Today, I went to this location for a quick wash, trim, and blow dry, otherwise known as "the works", which for 'regular' length hair is $37 + tip. The woman who styled my hair, Amy, washed my hair well, and informed me that my hair was over conditioned, which I appreciated, but when I got in the chair, I reassured her just the split ends needed to be cleaned up, to which she said "just the littlest bit, right?" and I said "right", and before I know it Edward Scissorhands goes and chops off at least 2 inches off my length and decides to go ahead and give me the choppiest and messiest layers I have ever received. She continued to say "I like the length, don't you? It'll look good when you wear your hair curly", to which I informed her I don't wear my hair curly, and my hair doesn't pull down because it's thin with ringlet curls. I guess she sensed my frustration because she decided to not even fully finish my blow dry (or at least I hope that's not how she styles hair regularly but you never know). The back of my hair was still damp and frizzy, not even brushed down. While she was chopping off my hair that takes a really long time to grow, she didn't tell me what she was doing at all. She didn't ask my permission for layers or asked if the length she was going to cut was okay with me. And even after she didn't finish my blow dry, she continued to charge me $37. I later called the store and demanded a refund since I now need to get extensions for my hair to try and make it look the least bit normal ($1000) until this haircut finally grows out, to which the person who was in charge of the store answered and said she would call her boss. Later she called back saying the best they can do is give me a free haircut in a few weeks, with extreme defensiveness. I never want a haircut from these people AGAIN. Do NOT trust these employees who think they know better. I had never even had my hair styled by this lady, let alone cut, but she felt she knew what was right for me, and now I'm mortified and needing to spend another $1000 to rectify this.
