Cherry Lane Salon & Day Spa in State College, PA

I don't understand why this place has such a low rating. It is lovely, not in a downtown location, it has a nice welcoming aesthetic and the stylists are super friendly. I had Luke for my stylist and he did exactly what I wanted. Not only was he a great conversationalist but he was very technical. As for the other stylists they were very nice and did beautiful work while I was there. I would feel comfortable having any of the stylists I saw today work with my hair. I also want to say that there is free coffee and water when you walk in. Well worth the price and I couldn't recommend them enough.

The salon has a nice setting. It's not on a main road and has a nice style inside. The staff is very friendly and the pricing is good. They have Saturday hours which is helpful. Complementary coffee is a nice touch.

I feel a bit guilty about giving this place 2 stars. This a nice place. The decor is nice and the staff is friendly. I sort of float around to different salons when it comes to my hair. It have very long hair with no layers. I just get a trim every so often. So, I don't give reviews based on the stylists' ability because my cut is so easy. What got me about this salon was the price. I was charged $40 something for a wash, trim, and blow dry. I can get the SAME treatment at Holiday Hair or Super Cuts for $16-20. It wasn't like I got special treatment or special products to make up for the cost difference. It was not like the salon was something special. I feel ripped off. I don't mind spending money for a good experience or good product but his was exactly the same treatment and experience you would get a walk in chain.

A friend of mine (with curly hair) got her hair cut by Jess T. here for 2 years and raved about her. I have had a hard time finding stylists who I felt comfortable with in town. I've tried hairstylists at both ends of the price spectrum and have ended up feeling disappointed. Jess started with a consultation and then washed my hair in preparation for my cut. Can you believe I went to a pricier place in town and they skipped this step?! Sheesh, it's like part of the whole haircutting experience. (I'm sure there is a technical reason for this step too.) My hair was cut in about 20-25 mins. and she spent about another 15 mins. styling it for me. I thought she did an excellent job and appreciated that she listened to my concerns about using the razor (scissors). All in all, I got a great cut at a reasonable price ($40) and time! Although Jess seems young, she is confident and skilled. I noticed that she was very meticulous about how she did everything. That made me feel like she cared about her work and has high standards. By the way, they just started a new referral program where you and a new client referral can each get 15% your next haircut with the same stylist. Ask about the referral card when you go or check around to see if any of your friends have one to give you. There is a parking lot and the decor was very nice with a day spa feel. Now if only they offered massage services there too....

Last week was my first visit to Cherry Lane and I had a good experience. The decor is traditional with a warm color scheme. Got a classic pedicure ($48) and classic manicure ($23). Kim was friendly and professional. Bonus is that you are in a private room for your manicure and pedicure. Ample soak time, so that was nice. Relaxing hand and food massage. I noticed mainly OPI and some Essie products.
