DO NOT GO TO ALLA NOVA. I purchased a Groupon earlier this week for a cut and Moroccan Oil treatment. I texted her right away ad she told me she could fit me in on Friday (two days later) at 10:30 am but would not have time to blow-dry my hair. That's fine, I don't normally blow-dry my hair anyway and my employer is very laid-back so this would not be a problem returning to work with wet hair.

I arrived at 10:20 in hopes Alla would be ahead of schedule, but she was not. I was told by the sweet receptionist at the front desk that she was "running a few minutes behind." After waiting another 25 minutes, I asked the receptionist again to find out when Alla would be ready and she walked back to ask her. She returned and told me Alla promised her "only a few more minutes." Ten minutes later, Alla walked the client she was working on back to the dryers and went to grab me.

She walked me back to her station and first thing she asked was, "You pay me?" I said, "No, I have a Groupon." (Even though I said that when I texted her days before.) "Ok, let me see it so I can scan it." That's fair. She scanned it and asked what I wanted. I told her a simple trim to make my hair healthy--I have long layers and wanted to keep them. "Ok follow me."  She then took me back for the shampooing and conditioning + Moroccan Oil treatment, which I can honestly say was the only good thing about my experience. At least my hair feels soft.

When she brought me back to her station to begin my cut, she reminded me she would not have time to blow dry my hair. She also made comments such as, "I hope you don't have a sensitive scalp because this is going to be rough." Luckily I don't, but I also don't appreciate my hair being roughly combed from the top down.

She also asked me, "Do you box-color your hair?" My reply, "Yes, can you tell?" She said, "Of course. I'm a hairstylist. Your hair is in bad condition." Cool...way to be kind. I only get my air cut every 6 months or so, but I NEVER use heat products and do not have noticeable split ends. I also condition it regularly and don't dye it often. However, I don't care to spend that much money on professional dye--my hair, my choice. I understand she is a hairstylist, but she was so critical and RUDE that it made me feel awful.

She began to cut my hair and when I asked if I could get long layers she didn't respond. I said, "Did you hear me?" She said, "If that's w hat you want." Wow...it made me feel like she was disapproving of my choice and completely unwilling to do what I want. WTF lady, aren't I paying YOU? Isn't this MY hair? I don't care if this was a Groupon...I told her in my text two days before that I was doing this so that I could find a great hairstylist that I could return to. But instead, I was treated as though I was not worth her time.

She never asked me where I parted my hair (a HUGE problem--especially with layers) and it wasn't parted (it was tied back) when I came in. She also never brushed my hair out after finishing the cut to see if everything was even. She began scrunching my hair and putting gel in it and never assessed if it looked how I wanted it to. I asked if she would brush it straight and then scrunch it (because I wanted to see if the layers were even) and she said, "If you want to style your own hair, you can go to the open station behind me." Again, WTF LADY? I did NOT ask you to style my hair...I am already accepting less than what I paid for n the Groupon agreement since I was fine with not having it blow-dryed. And this is MY hair that I have to live with.

Needless to say, she was ushering me out because she still had a client who she had left under the dryers. As I was getting up she asked if I was going to give her a tip. I am too nice and agreed and when I handed her ten dollars and asked if I could leave it on the counter she started laughing at me. I was already embarrassed and felt so awkward and felt as though I was inconveniencing her that to get laughed at made me feel horrible.

When I got back to work, I looked in the mirror and ran my fingers through my hair to straighten my waves so I could see the layers. They are not even. I was too embarrassed to leave my hair down so I tied it in a bun for the day. It is so noticeably uneven that you can tell even when my hair is wavy/curly. I can only imagine what it will look like when I straighten it. I feel as though I need to schedule an appointment with a PROFESSIONAL immediately to fix the mess that Alla made.

Not only was Alla horribly rude, rough on my hair, made me feel like sh*t, but she also gave me a cut that I am not happy with and hate more than when I walked in here. Please don't go to her--it was such an awful experience that I would not want to wish upon anyone.

Alla may be a good technician (rough as another  reviewer stated) but she doesn't LISTEN! I went in with chin length, medium to dark blonde hair for a trim and highlights.  I specifically said I did not want much cut off and she asked if I wanted my hair lighter blond.  I said YES.  I left as a brunette with a pixie cut!!!! ARGHHHH!!!!  I will never return and will certainly spread the word.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GO TO ALLA NOVA.
I had an appointment with Alla yesterday, it was my first time seeing her and I was looking forward to finding someone new to do my hair. I am very disappointed with my haircut. I asked for her to cut the ends, but keep it long. Freshen up the layers and add blonde highlights and complimentary lowlights.
She cut over 6" off of my hair. I don't have any layers and there are no highlights around my face. I used to have long hair about mid-back, now I have the worst mom cut ever. I think Great Clips could have done a better job. Now I have to wait for over a year for my hair to grow back. I will never go there again.
Please save your time and money... and more importantly your hair!

Orange "highlights". Yes, orange. Here's my experience: 1) the stylist asked me to come in early, then left me waiting for an hour. She was even late for my scheduled appt. 2) when I asked for guidance on color choice she acted as if she didn't want to take responsibility for making recommendations and offered little help. It's important to me to 'ask the expert' when getting services. 3) she left me under the dryer longer than anyone else ever has without checking in on me. It made me nervous. Another stylist even asked me who was doing my hair so she could go get her. 4) she showed me my hair with bleach coating it and asked me if that's the color I want...like I can tell what it looks like with crap all over it. 5) she said she couldn't get the right color because she didn't know what color I already had on my hair. Um...but she didn't ask what was on my hair until she was rinsing it and saw that it was orange. 6) she tried to upsell me for next time while she was styling my hair. That may be common practice, but it made me feel pressured and uncomfortable.  7) another stylist came over to compliment my color...yeah, orange is sexy. Thanks. 8) she started talking while holding the dryer super close to my neck - totally not paying attention - long enough for it hurt. It didn't hurt a lot, but enough for me to remember it days later while writing this review. On the good side, my cut was good.
