RK Salon in Minneapolis, MN

I went to have a full set of lashes put on Tuesday 03/28/2023, I was 3 weeks post stomach surgery and wanted something easy for work. I booked with Megan, whom they said had a lot of experience with lashes. By Thursday, half of my lashes on my left eye fell out. I hadn't even gotten them wet yet. I used a gentle oil free cleanser for the first time that morning after I got them done per Megan's instructions. I called the salon and shared my issues with Megan herself. She kept trying to blame me for an less than stellar application. Nothing she asked me that could of potientally effected them, I did. She aske if I could come in that day to get them refilled. I told her that I had no time that week to go and would call in a week with a status and hopefully by then they could have came to a conclusion on how to fix this issue. I called again one week after my application and sent a picture to explain how awful they had gotten. My left eye is bare and my right eye has maintained a majority of the lashes at this point. I asked if they could do a fill for me at no cost to remedy the issue, I was told the Owner would be in contact with me to discuss a solution. The owner texted and after a series of phone tag she promised to call me either at 2pm or 4pm that day. Well that was two days ago and she hasn't responded. A this point I let her know that I have consulted with another tech to have this set removed and have a new application placed after I SPENT $200 DOLLARS at her establishment, however she again never responded. This is beyond frustrating, if you are reputable business owner you would have at least offered some type of remedy. NOPE. I know a number of other women that go here for their hair needs, however my experience has been awful. Such a waste of my money and time when I all I was trying to do was make life a little easier on myself after surgery.

Saturday I went there for a haircut for the first time tempted by its good reviews and proximity to home. I was disappointed. I had an appointment with Lupe. The way my hair was styled that day (diffuser curls) I did not notice the error and went home happy with the result initially. But when I washed my hair at home the next day, it looked uneven on one side. Not just a little bit, it looked horrible, like an amateur cut my hair. I took pictures before and after and then I emailed the salon. I also contacted them on their Facebook page and used their contact us form on their website. I wanted to let them know a mistake had been made by one of their stylists and they might want to pay more attention to training their employees. The stylist got back to me eventually but there was no apology. She just offered to come back to get it fixed which I did not want to do. I do not recommend.

I am a client of Tina Schilling. @distinctivehairdesignbytina She joined RK Salon in June but has been a hair stylist for years. She's always trying to stay up to date in trends. Finding someone who knows their way around curls (cutting and coloring curl clumps) is rare and she is fantastic. She gives a great scalp massage during your shampoo which is...WOW! RK Salon is modern and minimalist. Clean sight lines and sparkly chandeliers. All the ladies I encountered where friendly. As I sat to process my color, one who wasn't Tina even checked to see if I needed anything...like a free beverage. I noticed during my visit that there were a few young men (~17-25) coming in for trims. Also young kids too (one mom waited outside, one waited next to the chair). Usually I just see other women so this speaks that the business attracts men and families. I am reviewing during COVID 19. All staff and clients were in masks the entire time. I witness cleaning/ disinfection procedures after I switched between my 3 stations (styling, heater and washing chairs).
