VIP Hair & Nail Salon in Minneapolis, MN

I wish to express my thanks to VIP Hair & Nail Salon Owner, Tiffany, for being so mindful of whom to hire, as Co-workers and Employees. I wanted to add a lot of body to my hair, to last for several days, for a family Wedding weekend. The wedding was in the heart of Minneapolis. My first time visiting. I found VIP Hair & Nail Salon. Coiffurist and Barber, Todd, is a Stylist to be praised. I entered VIP, as a new Customer/Client. Immediately, Todd, eluded a helpful and caring demeanor. He's a great listener where you know he wants to help you achieve your goal. Patrice, the Receptionist was welcoming. It's a good feeling. Then, it just got better after meeting Stylist, Todd. I am American Irish descent with medium thick hair, but a lot of it. It's fairly straight, naturally. I walked out with great body and a pretty curl. I wanted to praise Todd for the fantastic job he did. He set a plan. He followed through. All the VIP Salon people were friendly. I previously had seen Patrick at VIP over 10 years ago when he would regularly give me a relaxer. He was pleasant and friendly and had my hair on point every time. I never had an issue with time as Patrick was always on time & had me in and out within an hour & 1/2. (he was a wizard with my hair and my hair is a course 4C) (never burnt me) I went natural for years and grew my hair out, so it has been years since I had been to Patrick. After going through the pandemic and having my husband cut my hair, it was time to make an appointment and have a stylish cut. I made an appointment with Patrick, showed him a picture of how short I wanted a razor cut, and he did his magic! Again, so on point! It was like I hadn't been away for years. If you are a woman who is looking for a stylist that can do an amazing razor cut, make your appointment with Patrick at VIP! If you want a stylist that does an amazing relaxer & style go see Patrick!

It's very unfortunate that I wanted to support black-owned business and twice it was a mistake. The 1st time, Todd instead of trimming my ends, chopped my hair by half. My hair doesn't grow fast so I'm stuck braiding and wearing weaves for the next 5 years because I don't care for a shorter cut. The 2nd time, I elected to see Brittany for a lace closure weave install and please take the time to check that she uses a technique that actually works for you. She used glue to lay down the frontal (coming from NYC, I've never had to resort to glue. Hair stylists just know how to sew closure to lay it flat, no glue needed). she claimed it would last at least 2 weeks before I need retouching but the very next day, the closure was no longer "sealed" but lifted and I was traveling. I was so upset and when I reached out to her in panic, her response was to find the got2be glue spray. Not even an offer to have me swing by quickly for her to help out. No way I'm returning to that salon for a 3rd experience! I didn't feel served!

I have been going to Tiffany for over 25 years. She does the best job on my super thick hair and always accommodates me if I have a vacation or special occasion, she has even come in on a day the shop is closed when I was in desperate need! When Covid hit they strictly followed the rules and are still very cautious, I have always felt safe there during the pandemic. My mom and friends also are customers as well. VIP is such a friendly yet professional place. Top notch .

My friend went in and had a horrible experience. She was even contacted by her stylist after the fact and was spammed with calls and rude texts from him in the middle of the night. This is what she had to say about her experience: I went in and was helped by Todd. I went in to only get highlights done and that's all I wanted. He told me he wanted to trim my dead ends off and made it sound like it would be just a little dusting of the ends. That was not the case. He ended up chopping over half my length. I have been growing my natural hair out for so long so it's extremely upsetting and sad that he chopped it off and didn't even explain to me that he was going to cut that much. He also was very rough on my scalp and when I told him that I was sensitive in a certain spot he still pulled extremely hard and even seemed like he was in a rush and I was a bother and not a priority. I CRIED ALL DAY because my hair was so messed up after seeing him. It is extremely short and looks frizzy and unhealthy. Do not go to him if you have natural hair I'm begging you. I would give anything to go back in time and not go because I miss my old hair so much. He also blew up my phone with very unprofessional texts and even insulted my hair in a very unprofessional way. It was absolutely shocking the way he texted me and continued to constantly text me. I might even go get braids because my hair is so messed up and probably will be for a while now. Worst experience I have ever had period.
