Mark Evans Salon in Minneapolis, MN

So disappointed to be writing this review. I've used this salon for awhile now. Was seeing one gal but then she left. Started seeing another gal but then she left. (Perhaps red flags?!) The last gal I had been seeing was doing ok on my cuts. My last time in, 2 weeks ago, I never actually got my hair cut. My appointment was at 2pm. Showed up at 5 minutes to. Was checked in and told "she's just running a couple minutes behind." OK, fine. I sit in the waiting area and pull out my phone to scroll social media while I wait. Next thing I know, it's 2:30 and my stylist still hasn't come to get me nor has anyone from the front checked in or updated me on how much longer it will be. I go up to the counter and let the receptionist know I need to cancel my appointment (had to be somewhere else by 3:15 and was irritated I just wasted half an hour). She seemed surprised I wanted to leave. I noted my appointment was supposed to start half hour ago. Crickets. No apology. No effort at an excuse. "Ok, well, do you want to reschedule?" I completely understand things happen and can get backed up but half hour of sitting with no acknowledgement and no apology?! Had someone simply checked in or even said "we're so sorry for the wait. Would you like a water or something?" This review would be different and I'd still be using this salon.

I see Kelly, who I followed here because she is the best colorist I've ever had. I literally have people Stop me to compliment my hair and ask who I see. My hair is in the best shape ever and with her help, I'm able to style it at home exactly how I love it. I've sent numerous friends to her and they all rave about her skills. The salon is the perfect size, not too big, not too small, and everyone who works there is very professional. You can tell they love their craft and are very good at it. Such a positive environment. They carry some great hair care lines, and Jane Airedale make-up too! Easy parking right at the door with a Starbucks just a few doors down the way. Love Kelly!!

I've seen Annie twice now and both times she has squeezed me in last minute and done a great job on my hair! The first time, I had a Groupon and she did a cut and full foil on my long thick hair for a really great deal! I don't always like new people and am getting engagement pictures done and went back to Annie, who did a last minute cut and balayage on my hair quickly and beautifully. I definitely recommend her if you want someone trustworthy who listens to your needs and charges a fair price.

I saw Dawn. Seriously the worst haircut ever. She cut my hair for about 45 min. and it was terrible. I kept thinking as every minute passed, she just might be able to bring it together. But no, $68 later I had a terrible haircut and I felt ashamed at my choice of salon. When I look back... I grew up that day. I knew what it meant to know your stylist and how they need to know you. There's a bond there. There's a relationship toward a living organism of your hair. Dawn didn't care that day... She talked about her kid and how proud she was her kid could do "blah, blah, blah..." Either way her story didn't end up with me looking like Elvis. Know whom you hire. Don't take their word for it. -Lamar
