USED to get my hair done by Kelly the owner herself, I didn't appreciate the fact it was hourly since I really did waste a ton of money while she walked around stretching, snacking, I would sit there and cringe as the clock rolled on...SHE isn't cheap. SO I feel like I "paid" my dues. This is not why I am writing the review. Since Hairpolice or affiliates have invented the pinch braid technique, I have had a hard time finding anyone outside of Minneapolis to do this type. SO because I know this company for over 20 years & they used to have affiliates on the website (they don't have this connection anymore) I had wrote an email to the company inquiring about possible affiliates, I quickly received a reply "no we don't have anyone there" SERIOUSLY not 1 person in los angeles, finding this hard to believe. CONSIDERING I know 1 of them. This person didn't even inquire just real quick NO! What happened to Minnesota nice going above & beyond and asking around the salon, I would have been better if I didn't receive a reply back in a 1/2 hour saying NO. Like good luck with that. Sorry but that left a bad taste in my mouth and felt compelled to comment about the lack there of work ethic is crazy.

I had an amazing transformation at hairpolice with Wendy! she is amazing at detangling hair. Mine was an absolute disaster and she fixed it for me it took about 15 hrs but she managed to make me look normal again. its the best feeling ever! thanks again you are a very kind and caring person!

My 12 year old daughter wanted blue and purple hair (picture below). Our regular stylist didn't really want to do it. I wish I had pressed her. We were quoted $250 and 3-4 hours. So, I scheduled the appointment with MARA for 1 pm on Friday, October 30. Please note: The stylists at Hairpolice rent the space. They are NOT employees of Hairpolice. They are private contractors that rent a chair. This is why management could care less about your experience. There is no one to complain to. No one is in charge and so there is no accountability. If you are dissatisfied there is no recourse. So, I think I'm going to go to my bank tomorrow and fight the charge. Six and a half hours in the chair in which I waited because no one check in telling me it would be so long. I have never seen any stylist this slow at applying bleach. It made me wonder if maybe she was new to doing hair. My daughters hair looked nothing like the pictures we shared. It was pretty enough and my daughter seemed happy. I thought maybe this is what she decided she wanted. It was a dark bluish purple thing. There was no difference to either side. It looked all the same. Then Mara wanted to charge me $65 and hour or $450. I was like ummm... no. So she talked me into $350 and let me be clear... I would have never scheduled this if they had quoted me $350. It's like a scam. I should have said hell no but embarrassing my daughter did not seem worth it. I also tipped her $50. Oh god, I feel SO DUMB! I feel tricked and lied to. Now we are now over a week out and the purple side has been pretty good. It's actually starting to look purple. But the blue... ugh... the blue still looks like dark purple and it is EVERYWHERE on her. Her entire face is a shade of blue and her lips are dark blue from touching them with her blue hands. Her ears, her neck, her chin, her forehead, her hands omg her hands and finger tips, her arms to her elbows, her chest. AND IT DOES NOT COME OFF. Nothing we do removes it. We can lighten it for a time but as the day progresses it gets darker and darker.... she is ALWAYS BLUE. Every time she gets out of the shower she is covered to her feet. I have to wrap her hair up and then scrub her until she can no longer handle it. All the way down her legs, her back, her thighs, her tummy and chest. It's so awful. Then I use rubbing alcohol to get anymore I can off her body, hands, face, neck.... I've given up on her ears. But none of it matters within a few hours she is blue EVERYWHERE again. Just typing this makes me cry. She is SO embarrassed. She wears her hood all the time and hides her face. I feel like the worst mom on the planet. I have no clue how to help anymore. She is miserable. And the part that flips me out is that I paid for this. And I paid a HUGE amount of money. I reached out to to the manager over the last weekend. Then I get this very long email from Mara (I guess the manager just sent her my entire email). Half of Mara's response was about how hurt she was that we were not happy. How she bends over backwards for her clients. Then justification on my request for a refund saying that I received a discount. Except I didn't receive a discount. Instead I paid $100 more than I had been quoted. Of course all of this makes me want to explode in anger. She actually said that we could come back in for more color. WHY WOULD WE WANT MORE COLOR? Mara takes zero responsibility for the horrible coloring and told me to use hand sanitizer on her face, ears, and body to get the blue off. She said the blue only stays a day or two, it's now been 13 days and she is bluer today than yesterday. No matter what I say her response is it will come off in the next wash. LOL! I've uploaded pictures. Please take a look and make your own decision. I wouldn't be handing over my hard earned money to this place. The first pic is what we asked for.
