K & I Salon in Wheaton, MD

On this particularly day, my usual barbershop had a waiting line out the door, the strip mall where my backup barbershop is located was so crowded I couldn't park, and another salon where the woman who used to cut my hair once worked couldn't take me for two hours, so I parked at Montgomery Mall, assuming there MUST be a place to get a haircut there. And indeed there was. K & I salon. I was the only customer for the entire 45 minutes I was there. My haircutter seemed to have no idea what she was doing -- a snip here, a corrective swipe with the clippers there. The scissors she was using were so dull they tore at my hair. I would have asked her to replace them right away, but I couldn't get a word in edgewise as shortly after my haircut had begun a girl came and sat in the next chair and she and my haircutter carried on a conversation in Spanish during my entire haircut. Eventually the scissors were replaced and the longest haircut I have ever had resumed. At one point, another employee, I think, came in and did nothing but turn on obtrusively LOUD music. When my haircut was finally done, she insisted on blowdrying my hair, which only served to accent the unevenness of the cut. The entire experience was absolutely surreal, and I've left out some of the more potentially offensive details. I won't be back.

For guy haircuts, these folks really helped me ease into a new look and shape it well over time. I've been going for 2 years now! Really big fan, short waits if you make an appt. Be clear about which pricing options you went for, too, so you know what to expect when you pay (ex. hair cut vs. trim).

This was my first time at K&I salon, i had an haircut and Mitra did great job. She is from Iran also she is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go there again. Highly recommended!!!

Tore of my skin leaving it raw and red when they did my eyebrow wax and tint. I had gone here for years every once in a while for an eyebrow wax and tint and they did a great job for a very inexpensive price. First, when I walked in and asked for an eyebrow wax, I had to repeat it 5 times as the guy had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, a woman took me in the back and didn't even have me lean back in a chair made for this or the table right in the room. She took forever putting the color on my brow adding it over and over while waiting. Never had that experience in the 20 years having my brows tinted, so they came out way darker than I wanted. Something they used smelled absolutely horrendous. Then she finally put the wax on when I told her to just move on and she put it not only on my brows but the corner of my eye! When she ripped off the wax it hurt like hell and continued all night = why would she put wax there?? Again, never had that happen before. I was told they got rid of all the previous staff. I assume they wanted cheaper staff and they get what they pay for. Will never go there again. Photo here of my red eye which really doesn't show how red it really was.
