Ecosse Salon in Elkridge, MD

Today was my first visit to Ecosse Salon. Upon entering the salon, I was immediately greeted with a warm hello & a friendly smile. As it turned out, it was Star, who my appointment was with. Once seated in her chair, she took time to get to know me & what I was looking for. She shared hair color samples & suggestions. She was extremely professional & knowledgeable. I'm so happy with the color. I've already booked my next appointment!I highly recommend Ecosse salon & Star.

The star isn't about the service quality. It's about their financial practices. This salon asks for your credit card in advance. As a referral to the business from a local restaurant owner and first time customer eight months ago for partial highlights... I said no. I've been back once since the first visit in November 2022, and I booked a third appointment on June 25 for July 7. I used my credit card with them when services were performed in the past though. Imagine my surprise to find a $44 charge on my card for half of the projected cost for the July 7 services... charged on June 25... when I made the appointment. It wasn't a hold on the card. It was an actual charge. Who does this for professional services? Not doctors. Not lawyers. Not other professional services providers like estheticians, manicurists, etc. I'm not a customer who has been a no-show or walked out without paying. I don't want to cancel and fight to get my $44 back. So I will go tomorrow and get the service I booked and pay the other 50%; however I will never book a service with this salon again. UPDATE: I went to the salon for the partial highlight services today. Erika did a good job as she has in the past. When I checked out, I learned I had been charged an additional $7 for "extra color". Needing extra color was never mentioned to me during the services, and I said she put in the same number of highlights as she did the last time. The (presumed) owner at the desk just stared at me with no response. I decided to pay it and walked out, realizing that it was definitely done in response to this review which he called me about on the phone yesterday.

I have been coming to my stylist Crystal for over five years now! I have been with her even before she came to Ecosse Salon in 2019. She is AMAZING -- at cutting, coloring, toning, all of it. She's the only one that been able to get my black hair to be a silver, stormy grey while maintaining its health and softness. I have recommended several close friends to Crystal, some of whom have also made her their go-to hair stylist. (Did I mention she's also hilarious and so fun to talk to?!) She is an artist in its true form. Crystal's attention to detail and willingness to always perfect my hair no matter how many edits/requests I have--has always made her the most thoughtful and talented stylist, but her arrival at Ecosse Salon a few years ago definitely sealed the deal for me. Ecosse is clean, welcoming, and spacious. The co-owners are always approachable and kind, adding to the warm and joyful ambiance to the place. Not to mention, the products they use are top-notch. One of my favorite parts of Ecosse Salon is the spacious set-up that allows for clients and stylists to have privacy, even if other customers are in the space getting services done. When I get coloring and toning done that may take a few hours, I often bring my laptop to get work done. The privacy the separate segments of the salon allow for make for a quiet space, so I can easily and without distraction be productive while I am waiting for my hair to have all the magic done to it by Crystal. Highly recommend this place and highly recommend you to book with Crystal if you are getting a cut or getting any bleach/coloring done! (The first set of photos depict my hair after a cut, color, and blow-dry. My hair is naturally black! The second set of photos are of my hair after Crystal gave it some beach waves.)

Extremely friendly and talented staff. Always the offer of a water, a fantastic shampoo with massage, and friendly discussion. I am always more than satisfied after coming in to get my hair done.

I've been going to Crystal for several years now and followed her from another salon. She is the best there is. She always takes her time and makes sure you are receiving a great experience. My hair always turns out looking amazing. She is truly a miracle worker. Crystal has a great personality and is just a pleasure to be around. Even during these COVID times, she makes sure that everything is clean and sanitized. Crystal is awesome!
