When called and made an appointment for a wash and blow dry I asked the scheduler how much it would be. She told me $40-45. I told her I have very long hair. She said that was ok, it's still $40-45 and that it would take an hour because they schedule every hour on the hour and the stylist Angie who was going to do my hair had a client after me at 4pm. Mines was at 3pm. I went and the place was nice and people including my stylist was nice. she washed my hair and blow dried it (so i thought). when finished she charged me $70. I told her that i was quoted $45 max. she asked if i told the scheduler that my hair was long. I told her that i did. she said well $45 was the intro price for an hour. So i felt like i was bated, switched and over charged especially when i got home and discovered that the whole crown of my hair was still damp. not just at the roots, the hair itself. Now if i'm reaching up there to do my hair and feel that the whole crown and part of the back of my hair is still damp, i'm show she was aware of it when she wrapped me up to go. After overpaying I went home and finished detangling and blowing my hair dry. While doing my hair, she told me about a previous customer of hers that was not happy because the customer supposedly didn't know the difference between a blow dry and blow out and she asked me to feel how hot her dryer was which i thought was strange but now i get it. For dreads I saw nice work being done while there but for people with long natural hair that don't have dreads, i definitely would NOT RECOMEND.

Well, I started my loc journey at this location and is starting out well enough. My last couple of experiences have not been great and I have been very dissatisfied with my ability to schedule apps, punctuality of staff and communication. The last experience that broke the camel's back was a reschedule of 2 appt by the staff and then a "mix up" with the third. Following this appt that never happened, I was contacted by the staff and informed that I was wrong about the date/time of the newest appt even though I would/have never scheduled an appt during the week/my work day. No thank you!!!

Da Notty Roots did an awesome job on my sons starter locs. They were very professional and the quality of service was great. My son is 13 years old and the way that the Locs specialist explained the instructions they were simplistic enough for him to follow. It was a joy to see the smile on his face as he began his Loc journey! I would highly recommend this shop in Chesapeake

Went to Da Notty Roots to get an estimate on kinky twist. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I was told the price would be $180 plus, I would have to purchase my own hair. I'm new to Virgina. Thats not how it's done in N.Y. and it's definitely not that expensive, but whatever...it's not where you, from its where ya at, right? So, I asked the stylist whats the latest time I can have an appointment on a Friday? She asked me how soon could I come in? I said "I can leave work around 3pm and get here at 3:15." She said ok and that the style I wanted wouldnt take long. So, cool. I'm asked over to their appointment book desk to put my name and number down. I was rudely asked to put a deposit down, which I declined, mainly because I wasn't expecting to put any money down and I hardly ever carry cash. So, I make the appointment for Friday at 3:15 and leave. Friday afternoon around 12:00-12:30, I go to the hair store on my lunch break to buy the hair the stylist asked me to buy. I called the salon and I explained that I have a 3:15 appt for braids. Im in the hair store to buy my hair for todays appt. I don't like the way the hair the stylist suggested looks, can the stylist recommend another type of hair? She recommended another brand. I asked her how many packs, she said get 4. Cool, right? So, 3:15 I stroll into my appt ON TIME and theres someone in her chair. I wait, although im a little annoyed, but I wait. Im.asked if I have an appointment. I said yes...as im standing there with a bag full of hair. I was asked to take a seat, which I did. The stylist who was going to braid my hair says NOTHING TO ME. Doesn't acknowledge me at all. She continues to tend to the client thats in her chair.I wait...and wait...and wait...Finally, at 4:00, I ask her how much longer. She says 30 to 45 MORE minutes. I said, I had an appointment at 3:15. She says, I know, I do apologize, but I had a walk in. I repeat, But,I had an appointment at 3:15. I left work early to be here. I told you when I booked the appointment that I was leaving work early to be here. She said sorry and gave an excuse about being the only one who can do natural hair so she had to take the walk in.... My thing is this: Why take my number down.if youre not going to use it when youre running behind. I couldve been at work. Why ask for a deposit to hold your spot when a walk in can come in and take your spot anyway. I wouldve been super pissed had I given a deposit and had to wait to be serviced because of a walk in Why not acknowledge your customer and be proactive about the delay? If she explained the situation when I first walked in, I wouldve went back to my office until she was ready. I would've possibly given this place a better review if their customer service was better, but to ignore appointments, demand deposits and have poor customer service...I'm good. I wont be back.
