Curl Up & Dye in Norfolk, VA

After having a fall which injured my left wrist, I called Curl Up and Dye asking to come in for a shampoo and blow dry. They took me immediately. Donna gave me an invigorating shampoo. The blow dry was fast and attractive. The price was very reasonable and I walked out in approximately 30 minutes feeling and looking like a new person.

I would pick 0 stars if I could. I am from Seattle and am here in Norfolk on a work trip and this place was recommended to me. Got my hair done by Jill and she F**ked my hair up so bad. I am a natural blonde that gets brighter blonde all over. I guess she decided to make me go brunette. My hair is darker than what my roots were walking in. Completely uneven and brassy with random spots of bleach. She didn't blow dry my hair or style it. My scalp is stained. She said she has done this for 45 years. Stuck in the old times of doing hair. Get with the times.

My cousin and I are always one to support local business that's why we were willing to spend more money to go here. First experience was great both of us loved our hair cut and were excited to come back. I wanted to see Tina because we enjoyed her attitude and service. I called early today to find out her schedule, then called again later to confirm. The lady who answered the phone was unfortunately very rude , and chuckled after saying they would not be able to service both of us only one. I was going to accept one hair cut and reschedule the other or hope that she'd suggest we reschedule and give us the openings she had but after the laugh I decided it was not worth going back. Sorry Tina, this lady lost business for you.

On 8 June, I had an appointment for styling my hair with Jasmine at Curl-up & Dye Beauty Shop. I arrived early, she washed my hair and put it up in rollers. So far so good. Then she put me under a hair dryer and left me there for almost an hour. When she finally took me out from under the dryer, she took out the rollers, ran her fingers through my hair and said she had to leave as they were closing. My husband said I looked like Shirley Temple at four years old with rings and no styling to my hair. This was totally unsatisfactory! We had a funeral to go to the next day and my hair was absolutely straight, no style, To her credit, she had styled my hair twice and did a credible job. As they were closing, I called the manager the next day, who said they had completed the task and would not do anything to correct the issue. I received a call that night from one of the girls working at the time I was in there and she apologized for the mistreatment I received from the shop. I recommend NOT using Curl-up & Dye as they do not take responsibility for their poor work. God bless them but I will not use them again.

I came here about 2 years ago to get my hair dyed for the first time and honestly it went pretty good. I had Tina do my hair and she and her coworkers were nice to me. The second time I came was last year and i was a bit upset for what I got. I wanted to have most of my hair dyed but Tina did the top part as highlights. I understand why she did it because she wanted to keep my dark brown hair but I wanted it to all purple on the top and not highlights.
