First time getting my hair styled at a sports clips and I got Faded real nice. Friendly professional, Styled my hair exactly how I wanted even though I explained it confusing I'm sure. I've had a fear of haircuts ever since I was seven and I saw that episode of Rugrats where Chuckie has his first haircut and he feels every hair as they slice into it and he screams and screams but they won't stop. So I thought maybe a more male-centric bro-y vibe would help calm my nerves. The commercials made this kinda seem like a Chili's where you can get your haircut and talk sports with manly men, and since I used to have a guy put me under in his vans in a Chili's parking lot to cut my hair, this seemed kinda like a perfect fit. I got an inordinate amount of high fives between checking in and being seated for the trim, so the bro vibe was off to a good start. My haircut was fine, but I did swallow a large chunk of my hair that fell into my beer at one point. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to seem ungrateful about the beer, so that one is kinda on me, but it wasn't pleasant. I posted up for a high five after my third beer and they kinda went overboard and my hand was starting hurt from all the high fives. Switching to down low did not help. The sports talk was okay, but they really only kept up on contemporary American sports. There's a really cool sport I love to talk about that the ancient Aztecs used to play where the losing team would be sacrificed alive for losing, but everyone got kinda quiet once I got to the part about how the sacrifices were performed. Thankfully that at least put an end to the high fiving. The palm of my hand already felt like it was asleep by this point so I kinda bumbled my way into a win on that point. The alcohol helped with the nerves, plus I pregamed pretty hard like I do with all medical appointments like the dentist and stuff (Rugrats really messed me up), but I kinda would have liked a parting high five. It made things awkward at the end when I put my hand up for one last one but they left me hanging. I also threw up on the sidewalk, but it rained later that night so I think it's okay.

I was so desperate to find a hair salon that wouldn't butcher my hair around here that I just didn't even realize this place was a barber shop when I stopped in. I was told they can't style women's hair, but they can trim it in the style it already is. That's all I ever want done anyway since I've had the same hairstyle for 15+ years. Angela did a really great job trimming my way overgrown hair, keeping my style the same and cutting it even. Which apparently is difficult for everyone else to do. She fixed it from the last stylist who had left one side longer.. This isn't her specialty, since it isn't a man's cut, so I really hope she doesn't mind me coming back to her next time.
