Cost Cutters in Tucson, AZ

I've gone to Cost Cutters at their Sunrise location several times in a pinch when I couldn't get into my regular salon. I do not ever remember paying more than $25-30 for the services I received there. Much to my surprise, I was charged $42 for a shampoo, cut and blow out. I had researched online for prices that Cost Cutters is charging these days and the average prices for these services are listed at $25 and a senior discount is also offered. It seems they are charging a big premium for people living in the Foothills area. It cost me $50 with a tip and I was never offered a Senior Discount! You can go across the street to Gadabout and pay a little more and get very professional services and be in a great environment!!

I would like to warn the customers that on July 20 the price for hair color was $65, increase of 22.7% from June 22 cost of $52.99. There was no word of warning or explanation of such huge increase. Is it a new ownership? The place and the service are the same, definitely not 22.7 % better.

There is a "Sanitation Fee" at this location! They said the fee started due to Covid. I guess they weren't very clean and they didn't sanitized prior to Covid? What a scam. Just raise your prices and be honest about it. Staff was wearing masks but they do not expect their patrons to be in a mask. There was a paper taped to the glass window which states that if one has been vaccinated then one need not be in a mask. Well, that makes it not so sanitized for me personally but you're going to charge me a sanitation fee regardless. I will not be coming back here. When you are running a business and you are trying to squeeze more money out of your patrons with a sanitation fee, then you are really dishonest. Your business should be sanitized. It's an important part of running your business!!!

I've used Cost Cutters locations many times for a trim when I travel but this one is the worst. Johanna does not know how to cut hair. I left looking like a child cut my hair. Had to go to Regis to get it fixed. Avoid this Cost Cutters location in the Tucson foothills. You may think they will give you a decent cut because they are in an upscale area but that is simply not true. Also, I was charged a sanitation surcharge of $4. which was not disclosed. I did not notice anything additional in sanitizing other than she wore a mask. They are just using Covid as an excuse to rip off their customers. I do not recommend this Cost Cutters location.

I called while I was en route and Nicki (sorry I'm not sure of spelling) was able to get me in right away! She was very sweet, listened to what I wanted, and gave me a wonderful haircut. I will be returning for sure and recommend her. I'm so happy to get such a quality cut at a great value (and I've tried lots of places gadabout included). :-D
