I will not be going back to Yakis Hair Braiding. I've been there several times, but yesterday I had an experience that people should know about. For context... the term "Akata" is a derogatory word that Africans use to insult or speak down on Black Americans. Most Africans will never admit that the term is derogatory, they will try to act like it's not. The Tems "5 in the morning" song came on and the young braiders were talking about how they did not like her music and how it was played out. Then one young braider said "Yeah, especially when the Akatas learn the music its over." So.. for all the black girls that go there and spend top dollar, because they are not cheap, just know they use derogatory words to describe their high paying customers. Take your dollars elsewhere ladies.

I came here for the first time to get my hair twisted. Let's start with the good: -My hair was done quickly (almost 4 hours, like 3 hrs and 4mins) -My stylist was attentive and did a good job -You can pay electronically -My stylist answered all my questions, was friendly and she was nice, good conversation -They will wash and blow dry your hair for only $15 -They are open on Sundays The not so great: -The facilities could use a deep clean and wiping down -Prices are pretty high ($200 for spring twists around my shoulders - but this does include the hair) -I am tender headed and my stylist was a bit rough -I don't like (and this is a lot of places) that they don't deep condition and fully moisturize your hair before putting in a protective style. Overall, I would come again (I wish I could give 3.5 stars) until I can find somewhere better. I recommend blow drying your hair beforehand and possibly buying your own hair too.

Extremely unprofessional, doesn't answer when call and text, and makes you wait a long time even with an appointment and over charges on the pricing. Will never be returning

I Love my Hair she took her time and did it just the way I wanted it done !!! I'm in the Process of growing my hair out and all of it couldn't be Braid because it was too short so she came up with a style for my shorthair around the sides and back - I will be back to get it done again until it grows long enough to be braided it all over .

This is the worst hair braiding experience ever.. I had an appt but that didn't matter, because I was asked to wait an hour for another braider (using that term extremely loosely) showed up before my hair could begin getting styled. The quality, professionalism (or lack thereof), time, etc. were all substandard... I have never gotten my hair styled in a shop with such a low level of skill or efficacy. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO AN ARCH ENEMY....I WISH I HAD NEVER GONE THERE....
