Vata Salon & Spa Aveda in Vancouver, WA

I picked this salon because it was near a family member's home when I was in town to visit, and because they are an Aveda salon. I hadn't colored my hair (or been into a salon for a cut) since before the pandemic, and it was summer of 2023. The next available stylist was Jenny, so that's who I booked with. I've seen her a few times since. This salon is pretty busy, so you may have to wait a week or more to get an appointment. I've been very happy with the quality of Jenny's work, and I feel Vata is worth that wait. Jenny found a semi-permanent formula for me that blends out my grey sufficiently to make me happy, but doesn't grow out with ugly, obvious roots. She listened, and gave me exactly what I wanted: a natural, easy to maintain look. I don't live locally, but I now schedule an appointment with Jenny every time I come to Vancouver, WA to see my family. As another reviewer wrote, Vata never pushes products on you, but everyone seems happy to assist if a client has questions about the products they sell. It's not as luxurious as some salons nearer my home, but I'd rather pay $100+ less and skip the "free" champagne! This isn't a cheap chain place, but it isn't as pricey as some urban and upscale suburban salons I've considered in the past. When I asked a question about patch testing for a potential new service, another cosmetologist spent a few minutes with me to discuss my concerns. I'll probably book future visits with the esthetician now, too, at least to try some services out.

I had a fantastic experience at Vata back in February with Yoshi! I came in for a balayage and haircut and was a bit nervous, I haven't colored my hair in about ten years. Yoshi took great care of me during our consultation, and the service exceeded all expectations!! I could not be happier with my hair and have had so many compliments since then. Thank you Yoshi!!! 10/10 recommend.

This review is long overdue. I have been coming to the salon for over 2 years. I work in Idaho now but I still travel almost 400 miles every 6 weeks just to have my hair done here. My hairdresser is Dannie but I have had a great experience with Ceemone (not sure about the spelling, sorry) and Hailey in the past. I have had my hair done in multiple salons in the past where I was told I cannot have my hair colored blonde due to nature of my hair. Well, the owner of the salon who did my hair the very first time I came in proved them wrong. I also like the fact that they never try to sell you stuff so I never feel like I am at a car dealership here. The only thing I wish they provided here is complimentary sensual services (head and hand massages) like they used to do in Boynton Beach, FL. I highly recommend this salon if you want your hair done the right way.

I've been coming here for about 10 years. I live in Washington County but I go up to Vancouver because (1) the salon is great and (2) the prices are lower than in the Portland area. I get full highlights, base color and a cut, sometimes a keratin blow-out, always satisfied with the services. Have had a number of stylists over the years, they move on from this salon, as stylists do everywhere, moving out of the area or going to other careers.
