The Beauty Effect in Haymarket, VA

I have gotten two lash lift services here, the first one was okay and the second one was terrible. The owner will try and blame you for anything you did that could have affected the service instead of taking responsibility for providing a lacking service. I am disappointed with the cost to result ratio, very expensive for lashes that didn't even last the week. Definitely need to invest in a good pair of sunglasses to hide after this appointment! Follow up: the owner is actually BONKERS!! After leaving a review the owner kept trying to call me to get into another argument and try and fight me on my review... avoid this place to avoid crazy Karen's!

Firstly, I would like to note Margeaux was a ROCKSTAR, and she alone is the only reason i bumped this review from 1 star, to 2. Unfortunately, the professionalism and customer service was not the greatest experience and I will never go back to this place, or recommend it. Back in December 2022, my sister and I had both made lash appointments before vacation, to which we were notified by call, that our tech was out sick with the flu. Completely, understandable and not an issue, so we cancelled our appointments as the next available tech would be either after or during our time away. Fast forward, in April of this year (2024) I booked well in advance, a Full Set Lash and Brow Tint appointment for the only time as close as possible to before I leave for vacation again, Sat August 12th. In June I received a phone call asking if they could move my appointment or change techs, as the one I had booked with was on vacation for that 8/12 date. Again, not a problem, I could not change the date, but I didn't really mind which tech I got, as long as someone was available. So they moved me with Emily. Still, a Full Set Lash and a Brow Tint, (as what I was having done did not change). Then, in July, I get another phone call. Once again, needing to move my appointment bc the tech did not work on Saturdays (which was the 8/12 date I needed). I was a littles peeved at this point, only because how do you move someone's appointment without checking the schedule? So I kindly told them, I didn't care who I was with, it was just important that it had to be on that day. (Bc I work the week, and leave for vacation for 2 weeks after) thru told me nobody would be available that day and asked if I would like to do Sunday 8/13 instead. All the while, I thought they were closed on Sundays. So that was not an issue! Sure! I'll move to Sunday with whoever is available. Great, do they move me with Margeaux, however, she cannot do brow tints. So I said, that's fine, let's go ahead and cancel the brow tint and I'll just get the full set of lashes, which was the most important thing. So my appointment was moved again. Fast forward to yesterday, I come in at my scheduled time, Margeaux takes me back. But apparently I was booked for a 45 minute fill and not s full set. Somewhere along the way, with all of the rescheduling, my original full set got changed and booked incorrectly. I'm not going to lie, I was very frustrated. Margeaux offered to stay later if i wanted to come back at 4pm, (which at that point I did not want to do) So I told her, as I was already there, and didn't want to go through rebooking again or possibly just cancelling bc I have no other time to get the lashes done, if with the 45 mins given, she could do a partial full set and fill out the ends of my lashes more than the insides (towards my nose). She told me she could possibly do the full set in 45 mins. But I told her to just do what she could with the partial (as I didn't want her to rush through). Low and behold, 45 mins and a Full Set of hybrid lashes later, Margeaux is a GODDESS and she did a fantastic job! (Plus, who needs a whole 1 hr 30 mins + to get those done?) I've already slept on them and not one has fallen out! A++++++ to Margeaux. I take pride in the fact that I'm not that picky and I'm pretty easy going for the most part bc i trust in the trades and know that y'all know what you're doing. As for the business itself, and owner. Please work on getting your scheduling together better, and customer service. The Esthetics business is very competitive, and there are other places that do not do this much scheduling and moving around and screwing up of services/not finding out until last minute.

Eyelash extensions, Facials & Permanent Makeup Ladies, you MUST book an appointment with Eve at The Beauty Effect located in Haymarket, VA. I wanted to take the plunge into permanent makeup by getting my eyebrows done. I'm 60 years old and my brows just seemed to be disappearing into my face. And I'm grateful that Eve was the technician that I chose! She took her time in educating me on the different options for permanent eyebrow makeup and patiently answered all my questions. I decide on Ombre brows and WOW!!! First of all the shade and shape are PERFECT and I look ten years younger (a benefit that I wasn't expecting at all!). Eve is a true professional and The Beauty Effect salon is quaint, warm and beautifully appointed. Honestly, I'm SO thrilled that I want to tell as many gals as possible so that you too can have the same incredible experience that I had! You deserve it girl
