Sparrow Salon in Bellingham, WA

I needed a haircut for my brothers wedding and was fortunate to be able to make an appointment on short notice. I honestly get a little nervous going to a salon as a dude to get my haircut, but Thea made me feel so comfortable. Close to downtown and affordable. She even was willing to help trim up my facial hair. Super happy and will be returning the next time I need a haircut.

I am so happy with my cut and color and blowout from Laura! I went in yesterday to treat myself to a professional color which I haven't had in a long time. She fixed up some of messes I had made without ever saying anything negative about my hair. Laura is talented and interesting and just a genuinely nice person. I felt like she really cared about me having a happy outcome! I plan to return to Laura as my hairdresser from now on. Also the salon is very nice and super comfortable. The parking is easy because it's not right downtown. I appreciated that it was easy to find.

I got my eyelashes done with Callie. Wow so impressed. I have never done something like this and it was well worth it. Callie is great and she does an amazing job. I will be going back for sure.

Sparrow was recommended to me by a friend, and my first appointment went well, but it went downhill from there. I thought I had finally found a salon in Bellingham that wasn't over priced, and did a great job - I was fooled, and left very, very disappointed. My color turned out to be nothing like I had asked for, and it wasn't until the very last minute (right before I got out of the chair) that the gal had said 'it might look a little red on the ends, but it will soon fade into what you wanted' (my hair is very light natural blonde, I asked for it to be a bit more ash color).. I looked then and couldn't tell because of the lighting, but once I got home I could not believe the red color, but then I went to straighten my hair the next day, and could not believe that she let me leave with that hair cut. It was atrocious. My hair is cut in a short bob. It was nearly an inch longer about half way through on one side in the back. I actually showed a friend and she commented that it has looked like she cut it with play doh scissors After realizing all of that I decided to ask to get it fixed,rather then go elsewhere, because I did pay nearly $150. Sadly, and mostly out of desperation, because I didn't not want to be walking around and going to Christmas parties with ridiculous looking hair, I contacted the owner and asked for it to be fixed. She was not very understanding, even after I had sent pictures of what I expected and what I left with, beyond that she just stopped replying in our text message conversation. An inconstant outcome is something you will have to chance if you go to this salon, along with very poor communication.

This place is perfect, low key and down to earth but still professional. The inside is very spacious with cute DIY touches. Jenni was my stylist and she couldn't have done a better job! I came in with high maintenance hair that hadn't seen a salon in over a year and little input of what I wanted. She was so friendly and somehow gave me the exact cut/color I wanted. I left feeling beautiful and happy!
