McGregor is amazing. Always knows what I want before I say it and does an incredible job. His hospitality is also incredible.

A true master. Not only is he fab at cutting hair but his true speciality is color. I have switced colors with him a few times but the last time I was red, for a whole year. This is the hardest color to maintain and to get the same shade every time its redone. Scott is apparently a wizard and magically gave me the same shade very time, seriously I am shocked. Then, on a whim, I wanted to go brown, and without another word he gave me the most beautiful chocolate brown hair that makes heads turn. I couldn't be happier, or sexier for that matter.

I found myself in Richmond in need of a haircut, so I went on naturallycurly.com to find recommendations for a stylist who could cut my loosely curly (3a/b) hair. Cutting my hair is apparently very difficult, because I hadn't been able to find someone who could do it competently for years. I usually end up with weird "dog ears" or worse, so I wanted to find someone who knew what they were doing this time. None of the stylists recommended on the site were available, but one who was moving to New York had worked with Scott at Serenity and highly recommended him. I am so thankful to her for her advice! The atmosphere at Serenity is relaxed, and Scott is very friendly. Most importantly, though, he knows how to cut hair! He has cut my hair to shoulder length two or three times, and once to chin length, a decision I made purely on his recommendation (that's how much I trust him). No tears, no stress. He offered me good, usable styling advice, worked with my hair and my lifestyle, and made my hair look better than it has in years. I live in DC and can't always get to Richmond, so I went to a local stylist just to get a trim. I wound up with a horrible cross between a poofy, 80's style, mushroom cut and a mullet. Totally upset, I rushed to Scott while I was in Richmond for the holidays -- I knew he could help. He was able to work around what the other stylist had done and make it sooooo much better. I am so pleased that I have found him. Definitely give Serenity a try. (One note: he doesn't take credit cards, so be prepared to pay with cash or check.)

Serenity is a wonderful place to get a cut and relax in hands of a master. I ventured by after grabbing a cup of joe at Black Hand (moved since), to stumble across this great little find. I found the place to be very comforting with a large couch and two sleepy dogs (dog friendly) in the waiting area. There was also a delicious cake and coffee on a counter nearby. I pet the pups and set up an appointment in a relatively short time. I've had two haircuts since I first found them, and have been eager to go back. Scott really has a great grasp of want you want, even giving me a distinct, Adrien Brody haircut style. He's a super nice guy, and is as delightful as any. I just called him a minute ago and am waiting to set up the next time he can shwack the crap out of my hair.
