I have been with Kelsie since I moved to Portland almost 7 years ago. She has dealt with my Indecisiveness since the beginning but especially this year in 2020. I went from a rose gold, to a lilac, to a red, red with extensions, to then quarantine sadness, to then pink and now back to blonde.
She truly is amazing and I love how my color turns out every time.

Kelsie has been doing my hair for years. She is always very attentive to what I ask for, takes her time to make sure it's exactly what I want, and is so fun to go see. She styled my entire parties hair and makeup for my wedding and I couldn't be happier to have someone like Kelsie as my stylist. If you haven't been to see her, check her out!

I've been a loyal client of Kelsie for about 2 years. My hair has never looked (or felt) better. At least 2-3 times a month someone compliments my cut and color. Her charming tiny shop ensures that you are the sole focus of her attention, and it is very skilled, professional attention!  If you are picky about your hair color this is the place for you.

After having an awful experience at another salon, I came to Kelsie in search of some serious color correction. Kelsie was able to rescue my hair and was attentive to every detail in the process. She was clear in her communication, and took the time to make sure she understood what I wanted. For years I used black box hair dye. It was cause I was going through a "punk" phase and it went well with my complexion. When I got older, I used the black box dye cause I was lazy and it was cheap to cover the grey. The combination of my jet black hair and my chronic RBF (resting bitch face), I felt unapproachable and abrasive- but my personality is completely the opposite. I was adamant for a change.

I have gone to several hair stylists here in North Texas and they would always tell me that if I wanted to dye my hair lighter; even a shade; I would have to grow my hair out. I guess my request to them was impossible.

I have always heard and seen amazing things coming from this salon. I live in Texas and always thought that if I ever made a trip to Portland, I was definitely definitely going to see Kelsie to see what she could do. So when we took a last minute trip to Portland, she was the first one that I contacted in hopes of getting an appointment. I was so very lucky to get an appointment at the last minute. Yaaaaasss!

After I told her what I was looking to do (I wanted to get it lighter and look like a brunette), she was very straight forward on the duration and what to expect. She never sugar coated anything and never made empty promises.. Cause, you know, hair can be unpredictable.

I shared my experiences with her about other hair stylists back home and she told me that I was being lied to. She believes this for a couple of reasons. One, was that they were too lazy to it because it is a long process and two, cause they probably don't know how to do it. So, that there ruined my trust in the stylists out here in Texas. Does that mean that I would come to Portland to have Kelsie work on my hair? Yes. Yes it does.

I knew to expect to be there for at least 4 hours. When I sat in the chair, she discussed the different approaches that she could do. One; which I thought that that was going to happen; was to dye my entire head blonde and then dye my hair brown to the shade I want. Two, to add lots of highlights to add dimension and won't ruin my hair in the whole process. I chose the second one. Well, I let her work her magic. After many highlights and hours later, it was reveal time. I was in shock of how close my hair got to the color that I wanted. Like, she read my mind. I initially couldn't translate what color I wanted only because of using box dye for several years and being told that what we were doing was impossible, I wasn't expecting too much. She proved those stylists WRONG! :) She even gave my hair a trim to fix what the stylists did wrong. My goodness, they messed up. These stylists need to learn from Kelsie for sure!

She's really easy and fun to talk to and its not awkward conversation like you might get with some other stylists. Even though I known her since back in high school, we didn't keep in touch too much since then. When sitting in her chair, it was like picking up where we left off. That was so cool.

Personally, I never really seen a stylist that is very dedicated to their work. Kelsie is always keeping up with the new trends, she instructs at the beauty schools and she also takes classes. I mean, she already does an amazing job but the fact that she challenges herself says a lot. She takes her time with you and never rushes you or the process, even if she's working a 12 hour day. She ensures that it is DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. For that, I am eternally grateful. For someone who takes pride in what they do, it is well worth the price. I think that you are actually getting a deal.
