I highly recommend anyone to go to Joanna's Beauty Salon!! I have really thick Asian hair where most hairstylists oftentimes mess up my hair or layers, but Joanna is such a patient and skilled hair cutter. She made sure that I liked what she did every step of the way and she cut my hair exactly the way I wanted from the pictures I showed her from instagram. From Joanna's affordable prices to her patience and care towards her craft, I cannot recommend this place enough! :)

Just went to Joanna's for the first time ever during COVID. She was incredibly nice and has good attention to detail. I showed her a picture for reference and she did a good job replicating it. Pretty happy with the cut for $20.
I lucked out finding this salon a few blocks off the main Chinatown strip. The place was wide open (Covid times) and the owner seemed friendly, then when she took a blade to my hair, I immediately felt relaxed that she knew what she was doing. Not very many people know what to do with thick Asian hair, which is hea-vy! (one bad snip and you've carved a chunky ledge next to your face that is nigh impossible to cover, but you need to lop off the weight to give it body) I asked her to layer it out, and she razored away the length expertly; no tugging. Of course you'll want to think about a cut that's flexible with your face shape since it's a bit of guesswork to style with masks on. Costs a little more than the main strip prices but still very reasonable. Bonus for me getting extra attention on a slow day and pleasant conversation to boot. After she was done, it felt so light and soft, it was like running my hands through a feather duster. Currently cash only.
