L & L Nail Care in Oakland, CA

I wanted to come in today so I called to ask about appointment times available. The lady who answered the phone would not answer my question and was extremely rude. Considering this place was a mistake. It is clear that this establishment does not care about customer service or just being polite in general. Wow.

I went to this nail salon yesterday to get a pedi and my nails done with the shellac polish. I got my pedi and the lady proceeded to do my nails. I had black hair dye on and under my nails which common sense will tell you they needed to be clean. This dumb lady started buffing my nails and i said to her are you going to clean my nails and she said you dont need it. The owner came over and said if you get the shellac polish its 10$ more to do a mani. Any nail salon ive ever been to ALWAYS clean and polish your nails. I had to go off and trust me i wont be back. BLACK PEOPLE wake the hell up and stop giving these racists ass ASIANS your money!!!!

Folks, Skip this Joint! I went in and politely asked the main woman who handles people to enter if they were able to take a walk-in appointment right now, and she answered yes, come back in 15-minutes. Okay, so I found something to do for 15-minutes and returned. I was asked what I wanted and told the most smaller Asian lady that I wanted a gel pedicure. They told me I had to use hand sanitizer and take my temp. However, as I watched other women and one man come into the shop, not everyone had to have their temp taken or use hand sanitizer. Some of the other clients were not African America, and I'm African American. I was seated in a chair and had to ask the woman to turn on the massage in the chair more than once. As I looked at the colors, I was given the 'Gel' colors because I asked for a 'Gel' Manicure, Right? Right. After the initial cutting of my nails and prep, I asked the little lady for an orange polish; the lady clinician next to the one assisting me got me the polish that I requested, more than one time, so I could look at it. When it was time for my polish, I asked why she did not put on the clear before the polish. She said it would stay longer. She regularly polished my toes, even after requesting a gel pedicure. She did not use a base coat. She said she did the gel polish differently because it stayed on the toes longer, so she says. No. The little lady proceeded with regular polish; I was exhausted and under a time crunch to get out of there by now. That's why I did not take the time to explain again that I wanted a gel polish. When my nails were finally painted, she escorted me to the front to let my nails dry under the fan because she had not done a gel! She then asked if I would pay with cash? I told her I was using a card, and she said it would be another $3 because I was using a card. I explained that that policy was NOT LISTED ANYWHERE IN THE SHOP. She hunched up her shoulders as if to say so what I don't care and now you're in here and received the service! Now, what are you going to do? She was irritated that I needed to see more than one color wheel and was looking for orange polish. Go somewhere else where the prices and extra fees are clearly stated, and you will get what you want. I was trying to support a local business, but not anymore. I will drive outside Oakland and find a quality location to get my nails done and pay for the service. They will not get one more cent of my money. Find another location where you will be pampered, listened to, and have your request understood and respected. I do not mind spending money on a mani/pedi but at least understand my request and post your fees. Don't catch someone up short at the end of the Service and gouge out another $3-$7 bucks out of the service. Bad business ethic, selective pricing, and not good customer service. They were rude, seemed irritated that I needed to look at a number of colors, and the customer service was horrible. Go somewhere else where you will be respected and where there are no hidden fees, and where you will be treated well. This is not the place.

This is so unlike me to write a review but I have to be so honest. I came in on a Saturday at about 4 o'clock and the owner asked me why did I come so late knowing I did not make an appointment but on a good note I got seated right away. I let her know that I had to wait for my daughter to take a nap in order to get out the house. I had just got my nails done two weeks before that and it was a medium gel set. I let her know I would like to get a fill and she charged me the price of a long fill and I told her I always get a medium set. Her response was " oh you crazy it grew out". I let her know that I never get Long nails . She charged me $60 for my fill + $15 because I had two broken nails ($7 dollars each to fix) + $10 because I wanted matte. That's $85 altogether just for a Medium fill. My gel pedicure was $38 coming up to be $123. Then she wanted to charge me an additional $12 because of the system that she uses for debit transactions I told her that would've been your tip I'm not going to pay that much extra. Halfway through I had to leave and go to the ATM it was an inconvenience nor do they have an ATM. Oh and by the way the two broken nails that she fixed both broke again within four days

While the staff is very kind and attentive to their services, be ready for extra fees to add up. I came in for a fill. As advertised on their window, I expected to pay $25 plus an extra $14 for 2 nails that needed extra attention ($7 per nail). When I sat down and they looked at my nails, they asked me if the acrylics were from them, I said no. They told me that the fill would be $60 plus $7 per nail to repair. I needed them done before a trip so I continued with my service. The total was $74... I didn't bring cash (my fault of course), so they charged 10%. Brought my total up to $81... and I tipped $10 because the man doing my nails was very kind. Almost $100 for a fill is ridiculous. When I asked if $60 was the normal cost of fill they said it's that price because they filed down my nails. I came back two days later because my nail broke. It used to cost $7 per nail, but when I got charged at the register, they said it would be $10 because my nails were so long. I will not be returning. Pricing is simply unpredictable.
