Embellish Hair Studio in Roanoke, VA

I was not impressed with this salon. Payton was the stylist that cut my hair. She was very sweet and supportive but the cut was not what was requested. I showed up 30 minutes before my appointment which was scheduled at 2:45.   She completed her other appointment at 2:30 and I told her to take time to eat since we didn't need to start right away.  To give her a 15min break until my scheduled appointment. 2:56 rolls around and she finally shows up to do my hair. I asked for curtain bangs blended into an oval cut.  What I received has left me in hats and bobby-pinning it back daily. The hair style that followed was a front bob with no blending and angle to my curtain bangs, or shape the back of my hair. I mentioned this to her and she said it would look better once she washed and blew my hair. Payton's associate stylist proceeded to talk so much crap about her client that had just left making the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable.  I did not say anything after that,  fearful of what was going to happen to me when I left. I have been to multiple salons and I understand there is gossip but that took it to a whole new level. Payton dry cut my hair and washed it without going back over it. This was strange to me, because every salon I had previously visited to cut my hair touched it up when it was wet and even after it was blown out. When I expressed this in a joking way she didn't seem worried about it. Then, because she was behind from starting on me late, she finished up my hair without going back over it to touch it up.... So in short she only dry cut my hair. I read a previous review where a lady had a similar experience of them just dry cutting her hair and that was before rushing her out the door. I couldn't agree more that this salon definitely was not a pamper day at all.  I will add the hot towels were nice and Payton did ask if I was comfortable but in the end It caused me far more stress than relaxation. As a measure of self-evaluation, I asked my friends and family how my hair looked (honestly) and my sister summed it up perfectly. She stated that "I look like Lord Farguaad from Shrek in the front and Fiona in the back." A few days later I had a family friend fix my hair who lives 3 hours away. Because my hair was so bad, I was willing to drive 6 hours to get help just to fix my hair. She was astonished at my hair.  I told her what I asked for and if she could fix it. She said she would do her best and told me my hair wasn't oval shaped, it had just been trimmed and the front had been taken way too far back for curtain bangs.  In her opinion, it looked like Payton started working on my hair without finishing it. My family friend did a fabulous job and fixed it as best she could but because it was taken so far back she said I would simply have to let much of it grow out.... Which with my length of hair will take 4-6 years. To summarize, in my view based on my experience this salon is not good for long haired individuals. I'm not sure how they are on shorter haired clients but from my debacle, I would not recommend them to anyone!   Plus, the insult to injury total was $100(Deluxe cut and glaze) which I knew in the beginning but I thought for that price I would get a higher quality cut!‍

I'm obsessed! I had the Deva Total Transformation with Emily this past weekend and my curls have never looked this good EVER in my 35 years of life. I love my hair so much and Emily is so knowledgable about curly hair. I left with a great cut, gorgeous curls and the confidence that I'll be able to maintain my natural curly style at home with the right products. Already booked my next appointment because I don't want anyone else to touch these locks.

Embellish is a comfortable, friendly and clean salon, Recently moving to Roanoke from out of state, I was not looking forward to the "adventures" inherent in finding a good stylist for my very curly and graying hair. Thankfully, I found Emily at Embellish early in my search. Her skills are excellent, and she listens well to what you are asking for, My family told me that my hair looks better than it has in a decade! I highly recommend Embellish!

They are the best in Virginia Roanoke so nice clean friendly great prices $ I been going about 4 years now. They take Covid very seriously.

Alex did a great job on my haircut! She was so kind and friendly, and she styled my hair great, and I'm picky! I will be back
