Bourbon and Bows Salon in Minneapolis, MN

This is a cautionary tale. I've been seeking a new stylist and decided to try a Groupon. The reviews for this establishment seemed good so I went ahead. Firstly I'll warn anyone with a mobility issue that you'll need to climb a very long set of stairs to access the very drafty and dusty salon. The results of my foil and cut were unremarkable. Pretty much what I'd get anywhere else. What was SHOCKING was the $45 up charge! The stylist said I had thick hair..alas needing extra color..I should be flattered as no one has ever told me that before (enter up charge). Also, in all the many years I've been foiling my hair I've never needed a toner (enter up charge) When asked what this would have cost without a Groupon...$195.00!!! All in all I wouldn't recommend this salon for fear the up charges would destroy my budget.

Who doesn't love a good bourbon? I came here on a whim after I spent $$$ at another salon with less than ideal results. Tim helped me achieve a level of blonde that I am in *love* with, all while maintaining the integrity of my hair (which is an impressive feat considering this was my second bleach type process in less than 3 weeks). We decided on foils and the results were beautiful and natural. After 2 years in the twin cities trying to find my forever salon, I am happy to report that my search is over. A++++

Tammy is a hair goddess, and one of the sweetest humans I have ever met. I started out on a Groupon, and there was no weirdness associated with me paying for part of my services with it. She was clear that if I wanted extra bowls for my foil, it would cost more. Since then I have seen her for a partial foil, and just yesterday for a haircut. She is incredibly passionate about what she does, and tries to work within your budget. The salon itself is clean, super cute, and you can always grab a glass of wine or bourbon while you enjoy some pampering. The quality is very high at Bourbon and Bows, and I will be singing its praises to everyone that asks me, "Where do you get your hair done?"

My hair was a mess. I've had it lightened, darkened, I was bright blonde, green and blue haired, you name it I've done it. Needless to say, my hair has been through some stuff. I was in desperate need for some work done. A coworker recommended Tammy to me, and I must say she delivered! Not only does my hair look and feel amazing, Tammy was great too. She was helpful, talkative, sweet, and understanding. I absolutely recommend this salon and Tammy specifically!

I have thick, heavy, weirdly wavy hair that takes a ton of work to style. So I wear it back most of the time. I usually use Groupons to get my hair cut because, well, no one really knows how to cut it so I may as well get the best deal. (And I secretly hope I find that unicorn stylist the does it right - it happened three or four years ago, but then when I went back a second time she gave me a gawdawful shag reminiscent of Carol Brady. So it's like my cautionary tale for every stylist, "Don't cut my hair like Carol Brady's.") But I digress. I finally found my unicorn - Tammy! Honestly, I was a little freaked out when she started cutting, because she took off inches, and as she cut it there didn't appear to be much rhyme or reason to it...short here, long there. (I consoled myself with the thought that my hair grows fast). She assured me I could still pull it back if I wanted to. (Whew!) Well, she styled it, and it was cute and I was relieved. But when I washed it this morning and styled it, wow! I was amazed! My hair looked so full! It had such movement! And I could style it in about half the time. Several people at work commented, too! (One even thought I got it colored!) I can't tell you how awesome it feels to be able to do my hair again and feel good about it. (As opposed to laboring over it for 45 minutes to have it look like I did absolutely nothing to it an hour later.) That fullness and movement Tammie gave my hair lasted all day. I don't think I want to pull my hair back anymore! So thrilled! If you have wonky hair like me, you definitely want to check out Tammy. She can work miracles.
