Akada Hair Salon in Columbus, OH

I've really debated on leaving a review because I never ever do things like this. But I am just so unhappy with how my hair turned out and really just the whole situation. I was originally scheduled with Kat, but because she was sick she wasn't in on the day I was scheduled, and that's okay I'm usually flexible. So someone called me the day before asking if I wanted to 'reschedule with Kat or if I wanted to still do it today there's another stylist who is very experienced, is on the same level as Kat, and will do a really good job' so I said sure I can switch. I go in to my session yesterday and show her the same pictures I had sent Kat. The girl said in order to get the color i want we would need to lighten my hair and then tone it. So I said okay. About a quarter way through her lightening my hair I asked if it was a dye. She said it was bleach. I didn't know lightening hair was bleaching, but it makes sense and that's my fault for not clarifying. I figured she knew what she was doing so I continued on with it and didn't say anything. After like 4 hours we washed the bleach out and she put a toner in and my hair ended up being an orange/yellow. I was going for the complete opposite of that, like an ash brown kind of color. I couldn't even say anything about how much I didn't like it because I was there all day and just wanted to leave and didn't feel good about my hair. I go home. I look her up on Instagram and I find out she's an apprentice. I understand people need to practice and learn but I really wish whoever scheduled me would've been honest about the level she is on. The next morning I call back because I just can't walk around looking how I looked, especially since I am going to a wedding. I get it retoned by the same girl and yes it's better, but it still is not even close to what I was going for. Instead it's a little bit more closer to my original hair color just slightly darker. I feel like my hair is ruined from the bleach. It's so brittle. And I honestly feel like I could've done the exact same thing with a box dye from Walgreens and spent $15 rather than $245. I wish my hairstylist would have told me it would take multiple sessions to get to my color goal or just say she didn't know how to. Not giving 1 star because she at least was willing to try and fix it. And it's my own fault for not knowing she was going to bleach my hair. She was really sweet and I just feel bad that I didn't like it. I really wanted to.

First time coming to this hair salon and it definitely won't be the last! Elyse was wonderful and did an amazing job cutting my hair into a gorgeous long bob with soft layers, exactly what I wanted and even more. Reasonably priced ($30, not including tips) with incredible service (cut comes with a wash and a lil blowout**), one of the best salons in Columbus! **I'm not sure if this is included every time but my hair was pretty oily and tangly when I came in, so it migh be that.

My friend went here. I am posting for her. She asked for bayalage, she has dark hair. Her hair looks no different now. She paid $200 for the services to leave actually looking the same. I know you can only lift dark hair to a certain blonde in one sitting, but hers wasn't even lifted. It's still dark brown.

I found Akada from Expertise on the web to find the best local experts. Akada was on the list, I went to their Instagram and saw there work. All the stylists were so talented, for what I wanted in a cut I wanted to see Tabby. My husband said out of all the haircuts I have had she has been his favorite! I agree as well, I loved my experience so much I called Akada to rave about my 5 star experience. She is very sweet and talented if you want a haircut done right, see Tabby at Akada.
