Zoom Tan - Tanning Salon in Rochester, NY

I personally have had multiple memberships at this location, along with multiple other members of my family. I have never had any complaints or issues with the service. They are usually quite friendly and polite, as most customer service representatives are when handling a paying member. Unfortunately today the experience was the polar opposite. It was a Sunday, around 2 pm, so not exactly rush hour for this salon necessarily. Myself and my girlfriend walked in to see 4 people at the front desk all being helped simultaneously by one person. As we stood there, another person walked in behind us. Then another person. Customers were lined up to the door. It was awkward and uncomfortable. Judging from the sound of the customers behind my girlfriend and I, they too were normal paying customers with Memberships. After 10 minutes went by it became evident that the we were not going to be helped any time soon. Finally the salon attendant said, "you guys Can sit down if You want, this is going to take a while!". I still have to show them all how to use the spray tan". At least two of them were not regular members, although I don't think any of them were. Regardless, they were engaging in an intake process that was going to Take at least 20 minutes. I asked if Anyone else could help us. The attendant said, "there is another person here but she has to take a break, so there is no one else that can help you". She then muttered something under her breath to the customers at the desk. Very professional behavior. I said that it was absolutely horrible customer service. In the past at sun tan city, any time I had been at the desk for a procedure that took longer than 2 minutes( i.e. unfreezing account/singing up myself or my girlfriend), I would be asked to patiently and politely wait just a moment while the attendant quickly signed in the member, as it is a process that takes around 20 seconds to complete and avoids other customers having to wait exorbitant amounts of unnecessary time. After waiting twenty minutes( to tan for 10), we were finally helped. The attendant did not say a single word of remorse or empathy. Not even an " I apologize for the inconvenience". Rather we were made to feel we were rude for expecting any inkling of customer service or concern for our schedules. It was hands down one of the worst customer service experiences I've encountered since living in Rochester for 5 years, and the most lackluster attitude I've experienced at a tanning salon in just under ten years of patronizing them. Ultimately, the most shocking piece of this situation, was That the salon attendant was what appeared to be the locations "salon director", as her name tag listed, which is a sin. Luckily her arrogant, careless attitude has not rubbed off on any of the other employees I have engaged with. I will never recommend another person to try this location and will be ending my membership as soon as possible. I suggest the management team evaluate the leadership quality they have selected to represent the face of their location and franchise alike. It's people like this woman that give customer service a poor reputation.

sun tan city employees are taught to absolutely SCAM their customers. I needed to tan for only one month and was told to buy the one month membership and I could cancel it before the 1st of the month. I went in to do just that and got some bullshit about cant cancel it until one automatic deduction was taken out. this was NEVER EVER explained to me on my initial purchase. really? I know a business wants to make money, I get it, however to actually CHEAT people and not fully educate the consumer on EXACTLY what the policy is with this automatic withdrawal shit.SHAME on this establishment, then when I asked the manager about talking to the owner(who I know) says well he really has nothing to do with this place. I called corporate and they did not help in any way, shape, or form. some of the employees were lovely, and the salon itself is nice however, I will never step foot in that cheating place again and would not ever reccommend it to anyone. it's a shame that an establishment would exploit hard working, honest people to make their profits...karma can be ruthless.....

Watch out for scam memberships! I went to Sun Tan City to get a base tan before going on vacation last winter. I went there because I liked their higher level beds, and the location was convenient for me. I purchased a package that was supposed to last for a month, ending after April. I have no complaints about the actual salon, though the lotion I was pressured into purchasing smelled like a locker room. The real problem, however, was that I have been charged $60/month since last May despite me never signing up for a recurring membership. I normally don't check the statements on my credit card, because I haven't used it since April and use automatic debit for my payments. I was shocked when I realized that they have charged me over $400 without me ever authorizing an automatic payment. When I tried calling the salon, I was directed to a call center in Kentucky. I was offered a "Glow Card," to use as credit to tan more. I'll never step foot in there again, and would advise against it to anyone else.

Great customer service, clean rooms and beds.. Deals with your college ID as well. Lotions are a little pricey but the sales are great (:

I recently bought a package online for one visit in each bed. It was my first time I've ever tanned there and now not too eager to go back. The lower level beds look outdated and not appealing to the eye. There was no radio so you are laying (or standing) in dead air. I also noticed the room I was in wasn't very clean - lotion on the wall. Then when I left no one said 'good-bye or have a nice night' and there two employees behind the counter. The salon I normally go to always greets you when you enter and leave so I personally thought it was odd when I left. I'll use the rest of my package but it's only getting 3 stars from me.
