YY Salon in Richmond, VA

I am new to the area and i was looking for a nice hair salon just to get a haircut and styling, i came across this place online and i made an appointment. I feel bad for leaving a bad review but i am going to attach pictures so you can see the disaster they did to my hair. I had HEALTHY LONG BEAUTIFUL hair! I just wanted to cut a little bit the ends. She cut maybe half my hair off, and did some curls. BIG MISTAKE. IF YOU GET A HAIRCUT SEE IT FIRST WITH STRAIGHT HAIR. i left the salon kinda annoyed they cut more than what i originally wanted but it looked good. Two days later i washed my hair and with STRAIGHT hair i ALMOST CRIED when i saw the TERRIBLE HAIRCUT. It looks like i cut it myself in the bathroom with the f lights off. I do not recommend this place at all.

I love this salon. I've been getting my hair colored by Nick for 3-4 years, and I've never left disappointed. I have platinum blonde hair so I've had some absolutely terrible experiences at other high-end salons in Richmond and DC. When I first came to the salon, Nick went above and beyond fixing previous stylists' mistakes and coaxing my hair back to health. It's really rare to find a colorist as skilled as Nick in bleaching hair. Prices are more than reasonable for the level of service the salon provides (I've paid twice as much at Katie Blue for color that looks half as good.) Keyla also does a consistently excellent job doing my blowouts. Couldn't recommend the salon highly enough!

YY salon is amazing - from making appointment, front staff, the salon, the vibe, and of course Kara the stylist. Upon walking into the salon, it feels fresh, upscale, and relaxing. The salon looks simple but yet beautiful. It is also quiet so you feel very exclusive which I like. The staff will offer you complimentary beverages and snacks right when you check in. My appointment starts on time without waiting, which is important since it shows how professional a place can be. Kara is super down to earth kind of person. She listens to what I like, gives her professional opinions, and then proceeds to cut my hair. It does take a little time for Kara to do my haircut since it's my first time with her. However, she is very patient, and happy fix my hair until I am happy. I really appreciate it since many stylists do show frustration when I keep asking to cut a little bit more or asking too many questions. Kara also writes down the products that she uses on me and gives me samples to take home. I also love this is a strict non-tipping salon. So there is no awkwardness at checking out. The price is fair considering how much time and effort Kara put into. They do have royalty program. You get half off haircut after 7 haircuts. What a deal. Also, a complimentary bang trim in the middle of two haircut appointment. This is the best haircut and also the best salon I have ever been to. I feel like a million bucks walking out.

Another great cut & experience at YY! The new renovation is absolutely gorgeous, natural light in every space. I had my first cut with Keyla & she did a fantastic job, I love it! Also not to miss- the new product lines they're carrying, davines for hair & Clove + Hallow makeup. (I purchased the Clove + Hallow hydratint blush in "Nakey" shade, highly recommend!)

Beautiful new renovation. Light, space, great services. Mid century modern decor. Make an appointment and you won't disappointed.
