I wish I had the option to leave zero stars because I would. This place, especially the owner YaYa, is extremely unprofessional. She quoted me a price for braiding and at the end of the service she raised the price 80$ higher because she insisted upon braiding my child's hair longer than I had asked. then yelled at my daughter about it then called me on the phone and yelled about how it took her too long to do. You cannot blame your incompetence on your patrons. The I professionalism displayed was unreal. Beware of this shop. Many people have complained about this business and now I see why. It's a joke. Do not go here!
On the one hand, the ladies at yaya braiding to great work. On the other hand, how they conduct business and customer service leaves MUCH to be desired. When I went to get micro braids done, the lady took one look at my hair and said "Oh! Your hair is natural, it's going to be 185$, ok?" I said fine. Five hours into her braiding my hair she whispers to me "Can you pay 200$" WTF! Who does that! I had to cancel an appointment due to a shipment of hair not coming in on time, and the lady happen to call me before I could call her to confirm the appointment, and as I was explaining to her why I couldn't come and could I possibly reschedule she hung up on me! REALLY?! I am YEARS younger than these ladies and I have better customer service skills let alone people skills! In conclusion, save your money for a salon that does good work AND treats their customers with respect.
It's really sad that the quality of work I received from a "braider" does not reflect the style of the owner, Yaya. She was really sweet and nice; in hindsight I wish she had actually braided my hair. My story; I came in for mini/micro twist. However, it was recommend that I actually get kinky twist based on my length and projected hair texture. (They really flopped on that one). I was fine with the suggestion and we proceed. Five hrs later, and I wasn't happy. When I voiced my concerns to the braider I was met with her attitude and reckless explanation. The issue was simple to correct; I wanted the ends of my braids curled. Feeling feed up, I paid my bill, thanked them and curled the ends myself at home. After which I was happy with my style. Two days later, I lost 30% of my braids. They simply came out as I was twisting them into an updo style. REALLY?!?!?! I called the owner immediately, she said come in and they will be replaced. I arrived at the shop only to be meet with another attitude by the woman whom braided my hair two days before. Asking me , "WHAT DID YOU DO? WHY DID YOU TAKE YOUR HAIR OUT?" Which I responded the braids came out while I was styling my hair. Only for her to add, "I NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN BEFORE". Hell, nor have I! She informed me she was leaving and the owner never told her I was coming in. Ummm, thats personal! I just need my braids replaced or my money returned. Two hrs later, my braids are replaced. I thanked her again and left. Only for two braids to come out the next day. And four more a day after. I'm to through. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Too much time and money spent for such a bad job. Totally disgusted ;(
I went to Yaya Hair Braiding salon for the first time in August 2011. The facility is right next to the highway exit across from a gas station. Beautifully lit open braiding room with two large flat screen tvs on opposite walls so the client isn't bored. I was very impressed with the service. It was efficient. I had 2-3 African braiders working on my braids continuously. They didn't take breaks although it was well into 6 hours before I was done. The pricing (for Georgia) is reasonable - $150 - $200 for individual braids depending on the style and includes hair. They only take cash and are open 7 days a week. Their website sucks though - I have no idea why their phone number or address isn't listed on the page. Overall a very good experience.
