Ulta Beauty in Reno, NV

12.19.23: If you're a girly girl or girly guy, then of course you love Ulta! Definitely a one stop shop for quality brands. If you sign up for the Ulta Rewards, they give you a birthday freebie and double points during your entire birthday month. Birthday freebies differ each month. December's birthday freebie was from Clinique. Also, for all you last minute holiday shoppers I snapped a pic of the holiday hours.

I went into ulta for their black Friday deals to shop around and to find a little gift for myself. I was roaming the store trying to figure out what I could add to my makeup collection without breaking the bank. And I felt like this particular employee was following me. I come into this store very often and have spent money everytime I go in. While I was looking at the brushes they had on sale I turned around to ask for a price check and the employee who had been following me was mouthing something to her manager and pointing at me. She completely treated me like I was stealing!I felt very uncomfortable and went straight to the checkout to purchase my stuff and leave. I will be going to a different ulta from now on!

Terrible customer service. Recommended olaplex and wouldn't refund when my hair fell out. Awful. Someone needs to sue them.

I am giving a good overall because overall I get great service and help there.  Kayla is THE BOMB not only with brows but also with helping find the right products.   Other ladies there are great to help and seem to have a lot of knowledge about most all of the products.  
HOWEVER - the salon is a different story.  Went for a hair cut.  Now I do have very thick hair and it was long.  I took pictures of the kind of thing I was looking for - I don't think anyone listened really.  The haircut was, in the end, nothing like what I was trying to achieve and also about 3" shorter than we had agreed on - AND uneven - and this haircut took 3 HOURS (no blow dry just a haircut - I was party to that decision I just wanted out of there after 3 freaking hours).  I was so unhappy with the results (I don't know when I have ever left a hair appointment before this one feeling ugly) the very next morning I was at another salon to get it fixed (and even they were quite astonished at the lack of technique, evenness and such).  
So not only did hair done by Ulta  cost me $57 - I find out (too late into the process) that the person cutting my hair must have been very very newly graduated from beauty school.  While there was another woman there to help her with questions and such - it wasn't enough guidance and even she apparently did not notice the misses with the cut.  While I agree that new stylists need practice and experience - I just think (a) the customer should be told that prior to being subjected to an amateur haircut so they have the choice to participate in education and take a chance or not and (b) maybe not charge $57 dollars for a haircut by an amateur.   I am not naming names because I know people need to learn - but Ulta needs to take better care in their Salons if they are hiring unexperienced stylists to guide and mentor them constantly so a customer does not walk out and get in her car and cry (and trust me they could both tell I was not happy with the haircut and end result).  
I now have a great haircut fixed by a salon across the street and for LESS money - I left THAT salon practically dancing.  
Ulta and staff in Northwest Reno are great for everything else you need in the way of beauty - I just highly recommend getting your hair done somewhere else.

Ulta took 396 points away for an exact even exchange! What a horrible and morally incorrect way to treat your customers. I reached out to Ulta guest services and they confirmed they take away points for exchanges. Horrible and makes zero sense!!
