Sammy's Nails in Holland, MI

Came in with a nail that had chipped from another salon and they fixed it no questions asked even though it wasn't their mistake! It was a perfect match and they were incredibly kind and helpful!

I had a truly terrible experience at Sammy's that I feel compelled to share. First, the man at the door did not smile, and his unfriendly demeanour made me feel unwelcome. Secondly, the girl who did my nails rushed through the process and did rough work on my nails. When I asked her what was wrong, she called her colleagues over, and they started speaking in a language I couldn't understand. It was incredibly disrespectful and embarrassing to me. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time I had experienced discrimination at this shop. Despite the previous incidents, I decided to give them another chance. However, during my last visit, I swore I would never go back. When I was checking out, the workers expected a tip, even though I was dissatisfied with my nails. When I refused to tip and explained why, one of the workers stood up and spoke to me in a very rude manner. She even yelled at me, accusing my mom and me of always complaining. It was an extremely hurtful experience, and it took me over two months to gather the courage to write this review. I hadn't spoken to anyone about my experience until about a month ago when my mom came home with her own complaints about how poorly she had been treated by the same people. Three days later, one of her nails broke, as expected. It became clear to me that they were treating us badly because of the color of our skin. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, there are still businesses that treat people unfairly based on the color of their skin. I sincerely hope that Sammy's nails will take steps to improve their customer service and treat all individuals fairly, regardless of their skin color. No one deserves to be mistreated or spoken to rudely simply because of who they are. It's important for businesses to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers.

I did not enjoy my time here. I made a yelp account simply to post this review. The salon is fine but the two employees I had were very aggressive and did not really listen to what I wanted for my nails. Nice people but just unfortunate when you pay for a service and it comes out poorly. The girl who did my feet did a good job but my foot is really red now lol not sure why and it hurts alot and it's been a few days. The lady who did my hands cut my finger twice and said it was because I had sensitive skin. I also asked for dip with tips and they forgot the tips entirely and she filed my nails very short and I got a simple French tip in blue and it's all uneven. Bummer. I hate writing reviews but I just didn't enjoy my experience that much. :/
