I recently used a coupon I purchased from LivingSocial for a thirty minute microdermabrasion session at Studio 154. I'd never had a microderm (the term in the biz), but all of the research I did couldn't prepare me for how utterly easy it was! But I'm getting ahead of myself...
I came in for my microderm after work on a terrible rainy day. I live in the neighborhood, but I'd never ventured that far out into the Alphabet. Without knowing where I was headed or really what I was looking for, I decided to walk. I expected a cute little storefront or perhaps a studio in a converted house, so when it seemed that I had reached the end of the road, I was puzzled. I looked over across the street and saw the Montgomery Park Building. Perfect!
As I wandered through the halls, I wondered what a spa in an office building would be like. When I arrived, I saw that it looked just like a nice hair salon one would find in a mall (think London Hair Studios in Valley River Center in Eugene, OR...if you can. It's the only example I have).
The woman at the front counter was unbelievably nice. So nice. Honestly. She took my coat, brought me a towel, offered tea, AND A RIDE HOME (which I declined because I'm a native Oregonian and like being out in the rain when I'm not going anywhere that requires me to look good). I was so excited to learn that she was going to be doing my microderm. Seriously, come see this woman. Or any of the Studio 154 employees. Another woman was there for a hair treatment and it sounded like she was having a great time.
The treatment room was dark, warm (the bed was heated!), and cozy. I want to drift back to sleep just thinking about it again!
The microderm was not what I expected...it was way easier! Perhaps this is because I have young skin. I'm not sure. My research led me to believe that there might be some discomfort (or straight up pain!) associated with the procedure. Sometimes it felt like a cylindrical tube sucking on my skin and at other times it felt like a rubber pumice stone, but it always felt relaxing! The lotions that were applied afterward were so luxurious. It felt like such a shame to have to walk home and have them wash off a bit.
I paid $40 on LivingSocial and the actual price is $85. I would totally come back for another microderm. I was informed that because I have such young skin, I don't need to keep up with my microderm treatment as often as an older woman must. Remember, it takes a few procedures to start seeing results, but I would recommend Studio 154 for its relaxing environment and caring staff.
