I always get my hair cut here and they know exactly what it is that I want. I come here about twice a month. Nothing but great customer service and conversations.

I was listening to my most favorite podcast (The Read), when one of the hosts said, "She's got that hair where you go, 'sure, it's long, but those ends...yikes!'" I've been avoiding cutting my waist length hair, not particularly to maintain the longest tresses in all the land (though, it WAS verging on Rapunzel-esque), but more out of straight laziness. I knew I had some serious split ends, and I'd been willfully ignoring them (which is ridiculous given I have my cosmetology license and should know better, shhhh), but Crissle somehow saw me through the radio waves and said, "Lacey. It's time."

I've always heard the best way to get a haircut or style that you truly love is to ask someone else with amazing hair who they patronize. This girl who shares my office building has the BEST hair, so I (being rather shy) girded my loins, asked where she has it done, and of course she was thrilled to tell me all about Rinse and Trang specifically, who cuts and colors her hair. She sent me the salon info, and I made an appointment.

When I pulled up to the shop, it was not what I was expecting. This coworker is very put together and elegant and Rinse was...well, not. But looks can be deceiving, and here I was. I knew if I didn't do it then I'd probably wait another six months, so walked on in. It was a Friday afternoon, and I was about fifteen minutes early, but let them know I was there for an appointment, and settled onto one of the benches. The place was packed, and every few moments more customers bustled in. Most of their business is clearly via walk-in. I'd felt a little out of place, but as time went on it reminded me of living out East, and then I really started to enjoy the blend of people and different cultures, so often absent from my life in Utah.

Just a few moments past my appointment time, Trang fetched me. She quickly washed my hair, then inquired what I'd like, to which I replied, as I always do, "I just want to keep it long, but I know my ends are bad, so cut off as much as you need to." She asked a few clarifying questions, and to each one I replied, "Whatever you think is best." She got to work, we chatted pleasantly as she cut, then swiftly blow dried my hair. And ya know what? I loved it! I truly never have a particular style in mind, but inevitably, I leave a salon thinking, "I don't love it, but this is fine." Through same magic, Trang knew what I wanted deep in my heart, even though I wasn't aware myself! That is real talent. She also did all this in under an hour, and while I mildly missed the epic styling I usually receive elsewhere (in fact she said, "Go home and curl your hair, play around with it and see what you think!" - certainly a first for me!), I just wash that out anyways, so who cares? A great haircut with perfect shape is what really matters, and that's what Trang gave me.

Lastly, I pay $70+ everywhere else, and it was $33 here! For a much more skilled cut! You best believe there was a huge tip involved, and this is my new go-to salon.

Brought a homeless man in to get a haircut.   They were less than interested. Just too busy today.
