Moore Hair Design in Salt Lake City, UT

I am a first time customer to Moore Hair Design, and I found them on Yelp.  I had a great time with my stylist, Abbie.

I think they could easily charge 2X for their services.  

Very clean and fun atmosphere.

I feel like a real adult now because before yesterday, I had never gotten a professional haircut in my life. I always cut it myself or had friends who didn't know what they were doing cut it for me, and I haven't even done that in over 5 years. First of all, don't do that. Second of all, come here.

I was really impressed with my stylist, Caitlin. First of all, she is incredibly patient. She listened to my ideas and my anxieties about chopping off my hair and made some great suggestions. She gave me her UNDIVIDED attention the whole time, and was friendly and engaging without being overly chatty. I had a late afternoon appointment, so we ended up being there long after they had closed and everyone else had gone home for the night, but Caitlin never once seemed in a rush to finish up or showed any hint of annoyance that she had to work late. She genuinely just wanted to do a good job and make sure I was happy with the result (which I totally am, my hair turned out EXACTLY as I had hoped). That's pretty dang good customer service.

With a cut and color, it came to exactly $100, which I feel is really reasonable, considering the quality (keep in mind that I've never been to a salon, so I have no idea how much things are supposed to cost). I would definitely trust Caitlin to cut my hair again, and maybe I won't wait 5 years this time.

Got a bayalage for the first time. Kaitlyn did a wonderful job. She listened well, and the color turned out exactly like I wanted. It looks beautiful!!

I like the cut Alicia performed.  The only awkward moment was at the end of the visit, she said the cut was over 30% more than the price quoted to me on the phone.  There was no offer made to honor the original price quote either.

The haircut here was all right but I don't feel it was worth the money. I recently moved to UT from CA so I'm used to paying much more but it didn't feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck here.
My last hairdresser always made a good faith effort to get to know me and my husband, offered beverages while we waited, and always checked in if they were running behind schedule.
At Moore, we weren't greeted by anyone and instead followed the directions posted on the sign at the front desk. Not a huge deal breaker but what really got me is that we weren't greeted by anyone for the entire 45 minutes we were left waiting. Keep in mind, we had two back to back appointments scheduled and this was waiting 45 minutes BEYOND our scheduled time without even a hello. Eventually someone said "oh, she'll be done soon" and walked off. No "hello" or even asking who we were waiting to see.
The haircuts were decent but the hairdresser apologized multiple times during the wash because their water heater regularly goes out and they only have ice cold water. Kind of bizarre. Likely won't be back unless I absolutely have to.
