I am always changing my hair style. Thank goodness I have the best hair dresser. If you are looking for a great stylist and has color skills too, try Erin Olson at Red Velvet Parlour on Hawthorne. She has me loving my hair!!

If you want to be accepted just as you are, Red is your place. It really doesn't matter who you are, you are welcomed. It's not only that these artists are a cut above the rest skill wise, it's that you'll find someone who can embrace any issues that you may feel that you have without judgement. You know those areas... I have plenty of them. Or maybe you're feeling perfect but just need that split end taken out. They'll get it for you.

You never have to feel ashamed of any aspect of yourself here and they pride themselves on accepting and loving anyone and everyone. They'll do their best to make you feel your best. They use vegan and gluten free products. It is all about the health of whatever you are having treated.

This parlor is not like a surgical office. It's toned, historic and perfectly Portland with dark little nooks and cranny's. It is like falling asleep in Mary Queen of Scots' bed. The colors are warm and inviting. Perhaps a glass of wine or beer while you are treated? No problem. They've got you covered. It's rather like finding a ruby in a sea of broken glass.

Tonie took care of both me and my son today. She did a beautiful job dealing with not only my waist length long hair but was also mindful of my culture (we only remove large amounts of hair for certain ceremonies). She cleaned me up to healthy hair while keeping my length. She was gentle, friendly, funny, meticulous and determined for perfection. I loved her.

There is no judgement here. Come as you are. I left feeling a lot better about myself than when I walked in and I needed to feel that.

Jeremiah had been doing my hair for more than fifteen years when he up and said in a text message: "Can't help you".  It was per his request, right after his cutting my hair for which he charged $85.00 and I tipped him 18%, that I had tried to make an appointment via text message as he said his computer was down for a Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday anytime one to two months out whichever he thought best.  His reply was October 15 at 3:00 and "would I use my inside voice please, thank you".  Oct 15 is a Monday and I said I needed the Sat, Sun, Tue, or Thr,; and that I was sorry about the voice level and I had googled how to lower it and asked for help but nobody knew how to fix it.  Again I said I was sorry.  
After fifteen years of no problems that I was remotely aware of, Jeremiah texted me back and said: "Can't help you".
Very childish, rude, and cowardly is my new opinion of Jeremiah's service to a customer.  For $85.00 I expect to at least be treated with respect, especially when I have done nothing wrong!

Jesi was really fantastic! She listened to what I had to say and really made my hair dreams come true.  She was also super realistic in her expectations and made sure that I understood every level of the process which I find to be super rare in a hairstylist. She was willing to do an extra toning in order to make my hair turn out perfect, which means I know she wouldn't be willing to let me walk out of the salon without it being great. She uses Olaplex, which is a godsend because I had breaking bleached hair and now my hair is even lighter blonde but perfectly healthy and smooth.  I am going to go back to become more ashy but I knew it would take more than one process. Would totally recommend her to anyone that asked, which they already have!

Hands down, JERAMIAH WEST! I have been a client of Jeramiah's for years. Always great cut, color and conversation! He is very attentive and wants nothing more than for you to be completely thrilled and satisfied!  Salon is funky and always has great music! Hurry! He books out quick!
