A gel manicure involves similar steps but uses a gel-based polish and UV light to cure the polish, resulting in a more durable finish that can last up to two weeks without chipping.

I was in the Maine mall area and needed a pedicure. There are many nail salons in the South Portland area so choosing one can be a Eenie Meenie Miny Moe where do I go for my toes, decision. I did not have an appointment but no problem. There was only two other customers in the salon. I was greeted and picked a color for my pedicure. The nail lady called me over and gave me a menu to choose which service I wanted. Really no more conversation after that. She did a good job.
A few other customers came in during my visit. My visit to this nail salon reminded me of a episode on Seinfeld. You might remember Elaine goes to the nail salon and the nail ladies our laughing and talking to each other and Elaine has no idea what they're talking and laughing about. Nobody minds a little chit chat but I do get a little nervous when they have sharp instruments near my feet.
I'm satisfied with my pedicure but with so many nail salons in the South Portland area I'm not going to be a repeat customer.
I have never written a Yelp review before but was so disappointed by my manicure I feel I need to.
On 12/30 I decided to get my nails done spur of the moment because I didn't like the color I chose at my usual place. Since I was by the mall, I decided to
go to Millenial. They took me quickly for a dip manicure and I decided to go with a chrome finish because it was almost New Year's.
I've been to the man who did my nails before w/o issue. He seemed annoyed I wanted chrome but my choice. I don't need constant conversation and am happy to sit in silence. I generally try and have some chit chat because it's a human thing to do. But the man had his earphones in and it was clear there would be zero conversation. As he was doing my nails, he was watching his phone and would get distracted and stop doing my nails. As he was filing the sides, he stayed on one side too long and actually cut into my skin.
The end result if the dip manicure was very sloppy. I was summarily dismissed with a "you're done". I figured the extra dip around my cuticles would flake off, it hasn't. My bad for not speaking up in the moment but I just wanted to be done and
out.
I stopped going here in 2018 after the manicurist cut my finger and blamed me because I came in too late so she had to rush. They shouldn't have taken me if they didn't have time.
I would like to warn the public about this salon. I received a manicure and pedicure here and it was the first and last time I will ever go there. It was the worst experience I've ever had getting my nails done. First, I asked for a basic pedicure the lady told me "No this better" pointing at the higher price and I said sure. Then I found out at the end of the service they charged me way more than what she had originally pointed at. The pedicure that was supposedly better was so painful. She used a needle tool all around my toenails and I felt like I was sitting in a chair of torture. She didn't shape my toenails and they look like I did them myself. Also she left an ugly painful gash under my toe. After the pedicure was done she walks away and comes back and throws dangerously hot towels on my legs and feet. I flinched and she was like "oh is that hot?". Now onto the the manicure. They told me to go sit at booth one I sat there for ten minutes even though I had an appointment then they told me to sit at booth three and when I sat down on the chair I saw my life flash before my eyes because the chair was broken and flew back and my head was almost touching the floor and none of the workers said anything and they definitely saw. All I was expecting was to get my nails done I didn't know I was entering a rollercoaster ride theme park.
Then they moved me again! (I wonder why). Then after playing musical chairs they finally start on my nails. The guy hurt my fingers/nails he was rough the entire time and asking for help from other colleagues. He didn't know what the heck he was doing. After he was done he threw boiling hot towels on my hands. What's with them and hot towels at this place? Anyways, When I left I saw my right hand wasn't finished, he left off the top coat. I had to go back in and he had to fix it for me. Immediately after my finger starts to hurt and I thought it was because he was rough doing my nails but it turns out I have an infection and now I'm dealing with a puss filled swollen finger and had to cut the nail so now it looks awful, even more so than they already did. Save yourself the time and heartache and hot out of the oven towel burns and go somewhere else..
This was the worst manicure of my life. The man who did my nails was very rough and made the experience painful in a way that I've never had happen before. I got a powder dip manicure with tips and when I left I knew immediately that they looked mediocre and uneven but I kind of thought wasn't bad enough looking for me to say anything to them. $120 for a mani-pedi. That was 5 days ago and I just had my middle nail break right off. I've been getting powdered dip manicures with tips for about 5 years now all across the country, I've even had it done in Australia for a wedding, And in all those times I've never lost a nail let alone had it break only days after having them done. It's honestly a bad enough experience that it makes me want to never get my nails done again. My best friend also went with me and got her nails done and he didn't even remember to put the finishing glaze on her left hand for her powder dip, one of her nails is infected now and she's had to cut it and squeeze the puss out and soak in peroxide. She's talking about maybe going to urgent care tomorrow. So yeah, don't go here. Not only horrible waste of money but also extremely dangerous. This place is a chop shop.
