I've been going to Barb at Mass Appeal for 18 years. I drive 35-40 min from the north side to Mass Ave because she is that good. I have never in my 50-ish years had a better hair stylist--for cuts OR color. Not. Even. Close. In fact, before Barb I always hated my hair, and going to get it cut would rate up there with trying on bathing suits while on a period after the holidays. With Barb, it's like I've treated myself to a spa day and leave feeling like a rock star. Oh, and she's done hair for actual rock stars while they're in town. Just sayin'.
I love that she gives a little head massage when she shampoos. Most times I'm there for an appointment, I'm not going anywhere special afterwards. Yet she insists on blow-drying and styling such that I wish I had something exciting and fun to go do.
My fair is fine and my skin is problematic and oily--not a great combination, especially in Indiana summers. Barb has taught me much about how to take care of my hair and scalp. Her cuts are always on-trend and yet styles that I, as one who's pretty lazy about my hair, can manage from day-to-day. And while she does ask questions to get to the heart of what I want, I normally start with "just do whatever" and totally trust that she will make me look fab.
Yes, she's known me for almost forever, but her ability to give the very best advice started pretty early on. She's super intuitive with a high EQ. Having her as my stylist is like going to therapy every 5 wks and paying just a tiny bit extra for the hair ;)

I absolutely ADORE Adam Goble. I went in for a asymetrical bob with light layers, and he perfected my hair. I don't have all the hair in the world, and I have had layers that made me look like I was bringing a mullet back, so I am always nervous to do them. Adam brought out all sorts of razors, gave my hair awesome dimension, and my hair looks BEAUTIFUL. So low maintenance and stylish. Definetly will be returning for a re-shaping.
