HORRIBLE hair color! Had to get fixed. They say they'll adjust for free but then you're out more money tipping again! The prices are too exorbitant for the quality of work. Don't waste your money!

Excellent job in color, stays long time, awfull in haircut. You will get same job, even better from Hair Cuttery or Super Cut. So many times I tried to explain what I wanted, showed her photos, drew pictures, nothing worked. I was partied with her for one year, then tried another place with same price range, and immediately the new hair specialist got my idea, my hair was fixed in oh first try. Don't dump your money there.

I give the styles a 5 but the manager and receptionist at the short pump location are terrible. Made an appointment a month in advance for my mom and I to have our hair done for my brothers WEDDING and when I called to confirm the time the day of they had no record of our appointment and then was told oh sorry we don't have anything available. That was it, didn't offer to check any other locations or offer any help. Then when talking to the manager a week or so later so she pretty much took no responsibility blaming me and then asked what I think she should do. This wasn't just a hair cut it was for a wedding and the mother of the bride. Lets just say it turned a day that should have been fun in to a wreck. On the phone with them I wasn't rude nor did I yell, then to find out they have band me from my normal location and favorite stylist. I guess the manger felt like she got called out for poor service and needed to get revenge. So unprofessional, glad I have another amazing stylist and salon!!

I have been a Mango customer for six years. My stylist left, so I was paired with a new stylist. August 5th was my second visit with my "new" stylist for lowlights/highlights, the same as every appointment prior for 6 years. I left the salon, by choice, with wet hair to dry and style at home, which I have done on many occasions. Once I dried my hair the color was horribly dark and had no dimension. It appeared that only lowlights were put in my hair. Mango sends a customer survey via text after every appointment. I decided I'd respond by giving my stylist a one star rating. Much to my surprise, Megan, the manager called me. I explained to her how bad I thought my hair looked and she offered to have someone fix my hair or she would refund my money. I choose the latter. How could I possibly go back after leaving a bad review without feeling terribly uncomfortable. The charge disappeared from my bank account by that evening. Fast forward to August 10th and the $275.00 charge reappears! I immediately called Mango. The employee I spoke with told me that they could not see where I was charged. I filed a claim with my bank and because it was not a "fraudulent" charge I would have to wait 30 days to get my money back. The Mango employee that was supposed to be helping me has not called back to date. I will follow up with my bank this week. So disappointed and sad by the way this incident was/was not handled by Mango.

Children are known for their honesty and my children's responses when they saw my new hairdo said it all. My daughter yelped, "Your hair looks like carrot top!" while my son chimed in "Mom, you have a bowl on your head!" My husband, an adult (sometimes) remarked, "I'm sure we'll...em...you'll get used to it." After this COVID year, I wanted to contribute to locally-owned small businesses and I booked a haircut (and later added highlights) about a month ago with Mango Salon so I can get my hair done during our annual trip to Richmond to visit family and friends. Stephanie is a sweet girl who knows how to hold a pair of scissors but not how to wield one so what was supposed to be a short hairstyle akin to what many guys I know get at their "affordable" local barber shop turned into an uneven bowl cut with yellow-orange highlights. She suggested shaving off my "sideburns" and I agreed but her heavy handiness took off way too much hair on my right so now I have a noticeable bald spot there. Luckily, she did not do the same to the left side - perhaps after realizing she'd been a bit more than gung ho with the razor on the right side but it's also possible that she just didn't notice the asymmetry. After stating she was done, she had left a noticeably long strand off to one side so I had to point it out to her so she could fix it. After she was done, I also had to remind her that I part my hair on the left side so she had to fix her work again. For $230 + tip, I was expecting a bit more than an uneven orange bowl cut from a nice but very inexperienced stylist. While I can't speak about the craftsmanship of the other stylists at Mango Salon, my experience with Stephanie was easily the most interesting (disappointing) haircut I've ever received. Stephanie informed me that stylists at Mango don't work for themselves as individuals but together (I assume they share their profits?). If that is the case, then to Mango Salon, please respect your customers (even if they are from out of town - and, yes, some do have friends in town!), your other qualified and great stylists, and the art of doing hair and don't use your customers as guinea pigs for your stylists-in-training - at least not for $230 + tips! If you do, perhaps consider paying the 'customer' instead. Had my hair experience been a positive one, I was planning to take my mother-in-law to get her hair done - something to lift her spirits after being cooped up in her senior living facility for most of the past 1.5yrs because of COVID. Instead, I fear such an experience could potentially usher her to an early grave; she may have survived COVID but may not survive a hair experience at Mango Salon. Now, I plan to fly back home to get Supercuts to fix my uneven orange bowl for $30.
