I went to this hair braiding shop as a result of a referral. I had an appt with another hair braiding shop and the braiders never showed to the shop to braid my hair...so someone referred me to MADJ African Hair Braiding. I was a little reluctant because it was hard to locate because there was not any signage (at least I didn't see it when driving). I heard the shop WAS located in the North Oaks Plaza but have recently moved to the new location a couple blocks down on Natural Bridge. I tried to look up the new address but it is still giving the old address (same phone number though). It is directly across the street from "Year of the Dragon Chinese Restaurant". When I called the shop they told me a price and that is what I paid. It was always at least one person working on me at a time and they were very quick and efficient. There not any children in the shop except for a customer's child. I got the Senegalese Twists and I love them! They are thin enough to put in a bun without the bulk. There was a young lady that came into the shop that had her hair braided the day before and she complained about how her was braided. I couldn't actually see what the young lady was talking about but it was her hair and she was not satisfied. The hair braided asked what she was not happy about and she tried to explain to the young lady that all of her braids were done the same. Long story short the young lady was leaving the next day to Germany and couldn't come back the next day. The braider told her to come back and she would re-do some of her braids. She took down and re-braided maybe 10-15 of her box braids. I think both were satisfied. I was impressed that even though the braids looked fine to me and the braider, she took the time to listen to the client and tried to make her happy. The only reason I gave the shop 4 stars is because of the atmosphere of the shop itself. I think it needs some upgrades and to be decluttered. It was not dirty, it just looks like old furniture/odds & ends from different people were donated it and it needs to be up-dated. I would definitely recommend MADJ African Hair Braiding.
