LLuminaire Salon in Towson, MD

I decided to attempt to find a new stylist considering I am staying in the area for work after college. I was skeptical about Lluminaire due to mixed reviews about the secretary and the pricing. To add, I've never left a review before but I felt the need to share my experience. I called to see if any salon could take me on my off day from work for a reasonable price. I wanted a partial - full highlight with face framing balayage pieces. I have medium length hair that hasn't been properly colored or cut in months. The secretary, Lisa, was helpful and informative when booking my appointment for me. She fit me in to see Layla since she had a last minute cancellation. Long story short, Layla is extremely talented and cosmetology is clearly her passion. She gave me a full consolation and even asked me to pull my mask down a little bit so she could see my bone structure and skin tone. I've never had someone so thorough do my hair! She truly earned her 'Master Stylist' title. She was professional while also down to earth, she asked me what budget I would like to stick to. I told her around $150 for the full high-light if possible. In short, Layla completely transformed my hair. She worked quickly and was extremely thorough; She wanted it to be perfect for me. She even gave me a complimentary blow dry so she could see the results of the color. Although the price is higher than I've ever paid, I really got what I paid for. I'm from a smaller town so this was definitely a new experience for me. I feel like Layla was a perfect fit for me. She didn't make me feel like she was taking advantage of me or rushing me. I appreciate how humble she is and I already have a follow up appointment booked. I don't have any great pictures of the transformation, but Leila took some. Came here for hair extensions. I wear extensions for past 15 years. Discussed all details with stylists. I wanted to be brunette with highlights. She seem to understand. I walked out with black hair and almost no visible highlights. Called that I am unhappy with color. Came back, showed bunch of pictures to make sure we are on the same page. This time walked our complete yellow blond . Terrible. People start comment that I need to change hair dresser. By now I spent over $3000 there . Hair looks cheap . This place might be ok for hair cut but they do not know how to do extensions and should not offer that service. When explained issue to owner and asked for money back he got very rude , condescending and aggressive .

I absolutely love coming to this salon. The staff here is wonderful and I am always greeted and offered something to drink as soon as I walk in the store. In particularly, the last young lady named Anna who shampooed my hair was such a delight. Will definitely be coming back and referring all of my friends to this salon. Great job, Lluminaire!

The secretary was so rude while I was trying to schedule an appointment on the phone I will no longer come here because of this. This is so disappointing since I really like the hairstylists there.

I can't even put into words how disappointed I am with this salon! My stylist recently moved far away so I had to try someone new. I went to Lluminaire as it has a great reputation or at least used to so I thought I could trust them. I had balyage done which I've had done many times I even showed the girl a pic of the color I like my blonde. She totally disregarded it & made it yellow but not only that she over processed it so badly that it's all breaking off. I'm horrified & so upset. She took over 4 hours to do the service, why, for what? It should never take that long! I called to make an appointment to correct the color because it was so orange after a few weeks. I came in for her to put a toner on my hair which is quick & easy. I was there for 2 hours!!! I left with a pinkish purple tinge to my hair & all the highlights were dull from the toner ( glaze ) !!! I will never step foot in there again! They are unprofessional & sub par at best!! I will never recommend this salon to anyone!
