Lavender Park Hair Salon in Chicago, IL

I went here for the first time in February after trying to find a new stylist and salon for months. Lauren Zari at Lavender Park is a genius! The salon reached out to me ahead of my appointment to request reference pictures and see what I had in mind for my color. Literally never had a salon do this before and thought this was so brilliant. When I arrived my stylist, Lauren, had clearly reviewed the photos I'd provided and had a good sense for how we could get me to the color I wanted. She listened to all my ideas and I left the salon with the best color and cut I've had in YEARS! Weeks later, I'm writing this review because I still can't get over how much I love my hair! Hit this salon up and give Lauren a shout. You won't be disappointed!

After taking a bit of time to process the absolutely awful experience I had at Lavender Park, I am ready to share my review in hopes of preventing this unfortunate outcome to happen to anyone else. I had went to Lavender Park originally at the of August and had a very positive experience! The stylist who did my hair did a beautiful job and I was in love with the cut and color. A couple of days before my scheduled touch up, I was notified that the salon had parted ways with my previous stylist and offered to reschedule me with someone else. I was a little hesitant and wanted to speak with the manager before rescheduling to ensure that whoever I booked with was going to be able to maintain what my previous stylist had done. I spoke with the owner Jane. Jane ensured me that her stylists would be able to provide me the same quality as my previous stylist. I sent her pictures and I offered to go to a stylist with a higher level of expertise, instead of a junior stylist because maintaining the quality and integrity of my hair was important to me. Jane paired me with Teresa and also promised me that she would sit in for the consultation with Teresa. When I arrived to my appointment, Jane was working with another client and did not participate in the consultation. I showed Teresa photos of my hair and said I just wanted the highlights touched up and my my hair/bangs trimmed. Teresa told me my hair was in good condition and that she would only need to trim an inch of hair off. When it came time to take the foils out and wash my hair, the girl washing my hair made a comment about how dry my hair was. She said that my hair was soaking up the water right away. This was a red flag. This is not something I had ever been told before. I have never had extremely porous hair. While Teresa was attempting to dry my hair, she suggested me hair extensions for the sides of my hair and now I know why. Teresa did not fully dry my hair or offer to style it before sending me on my way. I left the salon with my hair still damp in places. I was confused, as this was not at all the experience I had previously. I went home and began to finish drying and styling my hair & was absolutely HORRIFIED. My hair was absolutely fried off in the front. The hair framing my face was frayed and various different lengths. I could tell that a lot of my hair had fallen out while she was coloring it. It was extremely thinned out & I could not even run a brush fully through my hair because it was so damaged. The highlights did not go up to my scalp. They stopped about an inch below my roots. I went back to the salon about 48 hours later in tears. Absolutely devastated. The owner was extremely cold, when I asked her what happened all she said repeatedly was that she had not seen the condition of my hair before, so she couldn't say. Well, that was not exactly true. I sent her multiple photos prior to my appointment when we had the conversation on the phone before she set me up with Teresa. While I was with Jane that day she brought the color up to my roots & trimmed my hair even more, making it all even and somewhat blended. I ended up having about 5 inches of my hair cut off. The lack of length is not what truly has bothered me, it is the fact that Teresa overprocessed my hair & fried off all the pieces of hair framing my face. The first photo attached with my hair pulled back was how my hair looked before going to the appointment. The following three photos are how my hair looked afterwards. I have had to have 4 k18 treatments done, I have had to start taking a supplement prescribed by dermatologist to promote hair growth. My hair is now growing back, but I have to wear it pulled back in a headband everyday because of how awkward it looks with a bunch of baby pieces just starting to grow back around my face. Having my hair done by Teresa & trusting Janes professional opinion on who to pair me with is probably the biggest regret of 2023 for me. I have never had such a negative experience at a salon & resent them for their lack of ability and professionalism.

I made an appointment with the owner and "master stylist" as I was recommended to her. However, once I arrived I was switched to another stylist without any notice. An email or text would have been nice. I ended up with a junior stylist who did a mediocre and lopsided cut. When I called to book with her to re-do and even out the cut, I was told they would need to charge me again. My only option was to have the owner recut it without charge. This really made no sense because the owner who I originally wanted was not available and supposedly was leaving the salon. Anyway, the owner and "master stylist" re-cut my hair only to make matters worse! I cannot recommend this salon whether it be a junior stylist or the even owner "master styist". I had to go elsewhere to get it completely corrected. The space is uninviting and not welcoming. The stylists and owner unskilled and hurried.

Fantastic and very friendly salon . Excellent in high end cutting skills Stephanie and Cassandra are very talented and have mastered the technique of cutting curly hair. They both do all types of hair texture. Want a designer haircut then go to Lavender Park
