JCPenney in McAllen, TX

I have always shopped at JCP for back to school but today was the exception.....3 associates in the womens department were extremely rude and unprofessional, so I went to shop at Macy's instead. I paid a little more formy merchandise at Macy's but the great customer service compensated for the difference.

Maybe it just the pre-Black Friday staffing but there was only ONE cashier and at LEAST ten customers waiting in line! I saw several other employees walk by but no one stepped in to help the line cashier. Nor did she call for assistance. Fortunately for them I love their Stanford pocket T's and they're generally a good price. Otherwise when or if I find a decent substitute I'll be taking my business elsewhere. It's NEVER this slow of service in my home town in the PNW.

I wish I could give zero stars. We had a terrible experience with a washer and dryer purchase. Seller "promised" one-week delivery. They called postponed three times, more than two weeks in total. Long enough for me to learn the best laundromat in the neighborhood. They are not honest. Avoid like the plague!

This location reminds me of downtown Main Street in Speedway, Indiana before the revitalization project. Store fronts are small, older brick face facade, some aching for a face lift with most being locally and privately owned. Businesses range from small restaurants, party and clothing stores, home decor, bars, attorney offices, and tax preparation with a few chains scattered throughout. JCPenny, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are the chains that stood out. This Penny's location, on 10th Street in downtown McAllen, is much smaller than most of us are used to in the larger malls and strip centers. It is two levels with men and women clothing downstairs and infant and children's upstairs. The isles are a snug fit stocking maximum capacity for us, the customer, to snap up. Due to the limited size they basically stock what sells with supply and demand dictating inventory. If you can't find the department or style you want, hit the larger mall store. Their currently having a fabulous sale varying from buy one get one for 1 penny, decent sale on school clothes with many clearance sales throughout. We did find you need to pay extremely close attention to sale price posted. 90% of the items we purchased were posted lower than sale priced reflected when bar-code scanned. We were confident of prices posted on our items but two sales reps WOULDN'T listen and politely dismissed us. Thank God for Mary who took the time to confirm the posted price vs. taking the word of the scanned bar-code. We found wonderful sale items, nice selections, and a comfortable shopping environment with a lovely and efficient sales associate. Thank you again Mary for putting forth the extra effort!!!! We will return soon and worth the drive before hitting the mall.
