J&R Nail Spa in Mohegan Lake, NY

Horrible service, they are very negative and talking behind peoples back the whole time but act nice to your face but energy doesn't lie! It's like they try to mock you to your face it's really quite shocking. They did a horrible job on my pedicure, then when asked to do it again still a mess, never go here. Also I was there for close to 2 hrs. Unprofessional.

I have been going there for a few years now. Always gave a 5 star rating, but July of this year, I went for a pedicure. I have been getting gel on my nails for years with no issues. So I got this new girl for the 2nd time. I did not like her the first time but I said let me give her a 2nd chance. Worse mistake. She grinded my toenails almost down to skin. I asked the manager to come outside because I did not want to cause a scene. I showed her my nails. They were red the water was burning. I could not finish the pedicure. She had to cut my nails. I still paid and then she handed me a $20.00 coupon. My nails are still breaking. I can't polish them, and I did try. I have to cut them down real short because they Crack down the middle and on the sides. I wish I can take a picture. They lose a good customer and a great tipper. I will never go there again. Beware because some of them don't know what they are doing.

I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone that is minority. Very terrible service towards blacks. I was so disgusted with the woman at the front desk. I have made several visits to this salon being that I like the way one woman there does pedicures but after today I will no longer be supporting this business. Not once have I visited this salon and gave them any reason to believe I don't have money to pay for the services rendered and on top of that I always tip. For some reason the woman at the front desk when I went to pay her with a $100 bill implied that my money was fake and asked me for another method of payment. I was so embarrassed and disgusted. I've been a returning client and never gave any problems even tho they nickel and dime u for every thing they do to your nails. I had to tell her well the bank is next door and the post office so go see if my money is fake. Straight racist idiots if you ask me. I will not be returning and will be warning everyone that is black about this place. She felt so stupid when she returned and they told her they bill was real.

I will NEVER come back to J&R Nail Spa again...The last time I stopped by to say hi to a friend who had her son,(I had mine as well), they asked us to tell our kids to be quieter(they weren't running around, they were laughing and watching their iPads) I respectfully left before I went off....TODAY is it . . I walked in at my scheduled appointment time for the "Owner" to nicely greet the Caucasian women ahead of me with "Hi, can I help you?" The women responded she had an appointment and gave her info, then the ower looks at me and says"You have an appointment?"....So I paused for a second and replied, "Yes, I have an appointment." Then she goes to sit us down and THIS, is what I see....6 customers total, 2 races, separated African Americans on one side, Caucasian on the other . . Coincidence ? Absolutely not lol I ALSO do not like being ASKED for a tip or if I need change for a tip BEFORE I EVEN GET A CHANCE TO GIVE THE TIP! I have no problem tipping for a job well done, so relax...My appointment was for 12:30 btw and it's now 12:42 and I'm sitting here still....She did come back to tell the Caucasian woman "someone's coming soon" though . . Lol If my mail tech wasn't booked, they wouldn't be getting ANYTHING out of me today . . .

This place is good depending on who you go to do your nails. I normally always go to Jessica and she does an amazing job every single time (She would get 5 stars) Recently though I had to cheat on Jessica because I really needed my nails done before I went away and she wasn't available. I went and got a soak off and a french gel polish mani. She filed my nails so thin that I need to be cautious when it comes to doing simple tasks, They keep bending and they aren't even long! I was brushing my hair up and realized as I was doing it on 3 different nails they were starting to crack in half I had to file as close as I could to my nails to prevent them from breaking completely off my nails. And the manicure... not the best work I've seen from this place.
