J Hair Gallery in St Charles, MO

I called early in the morning to make a first customer appointment and was disappointed to learn by the receptionist that in order to make that first appointment, I was required to put a card into n file or a down payment of $25 to hold that appointment. I explain that I had a personal policy of not putting any credit cards on file due to identity theft concerns and that I was willing to come in later with a cash deposit if necessary but was not happy with the policy. I received a call on my voicemail about 10 minutes later from the owner stating that they canceled my appointment until they received deposit. I checked their website again and it states that they except walk in appointments, which does not require, any form of deposit or appointment at all so I'm confused as to why this policy is even in place for a new customer. First impressions matter and I just didn't feel the love. Single Star.

I've been coming back here regularly for years now. Not sure why I originally gave it 4 stars other than I used to be a harsher critic all around. I always ask for Ashley and she has never done me wrong. Walk-ins aren't always guaranteed so you probably should give them a call, especially on Fridays.

I had my hair cut by Jaqi, a woman who told me she didn't like short hair (I have short hair). I showed her a picture of what I wanted, Julianne Hough's pixie cut. When she was done, I turned towards the mirror and was horrified by what I saw...I looked like a middle aged soccer mom. Nothing wrong with them, but that was not at all the look I asked for. So I politely asked her to cut some of the bulk out. It looked insane. She tried, then when she was satisfied, turned me towards the mirror again. No change. After I asked her to again cut out the bulk, she said it looked cute and that she was surprised I didn't like it. I told her it was fine and I left. After sitting in the car and crying (I know, it's just hair, but come on), I made an appointment at another salon for the next day. I had to get way more cut off than I wanted to since she did such a bad job. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially not Jaqi. She needs to learn the trends and how to get out of her long-haired comfort space. I spent way too much money for haircuts I didn't want. So disappointing.

Nikki cut my hair and I couldn't have been happier! I got exactly what I wanted at a great price. The salon was clean and bright all the stylists were friendly and had great hair themselves. Will definitely be back.

I had my bridal party as well as my bridal hair done here.  They were wonderfully friendly and able to recreate the looks for my party from my Pinterest pictures.  I would recommend them any time.  The other amazing thing was that I am from NC, and was able to get reservations within a month of my wedding.  I initially was booked with another salon in St. Charles, but was not treated very respectfully and was informed that my group wasn't really a "party" because I didn't have enough people.....what?!  Anyway - they took really good care of us and would not hesitate to recommend them for a special event.
