J & R DOMINICAN SALON in Capitol Heights, MD

So I visited twice in one month for a blow out. My hair is thick, natural and came out beautifully but on the first visit they suggested a protein treatment that is a leave in treatment that they don't wash out. I'm thinking now that I should have declined. I noticed my hair seemed to be shedding a little so I mentioned it on my second visit. They told me getting another protein treatment would help with shedding. I believe that protein treatment has chemicals in it. Now my hair is shedding badly and my curl pattern has changed. I feel this was very dishonest because they asked me what type of chemicals I had in my hair and I told them none at all. My hair had grown out tremendously since the pandemic. 3 years of growing out to about 12 inches long. I may have to cut it all off. That's just how damaged it is.

Checked out this Dominican salon in the walker mill area which is about a 12 min drive from my home let me say they have met my expectation! I called and they told me appoinment only in which they took me next day .where upon arrival they had the door locked but someone came to open right away& she locked it right back after I came in . I felt safe ! Now a days the world is getting crazier I like how they keep safe. Older lady greeted me and sat me to wash my hair . She washed my hair about 3 times and it felt soooo good and relaxing salon was pretty empty & quite with a cute set up & my hair came out so nice & neat plus straight to the TEA! 10/10 coming back they have a new customer !

Greaf experience! Family oriented and very personable. Both women are very knowledgeable about hair and get to know you on a personal level aside from just been a paying customer. You are family!! J&R have a customer/ family member for life!

I found J & R Dominican Salon on Yelp, saw all the amazing reviews and decided to try them out. They did not disappoint!! Ms. Rosa was so sweet and attentive. She's very knowledgeable on the products that she was using and gave my color a much needed touch up. I will definitely be coming back!!!

So it's been two years and I still LOVE this place. They don't rush your service at all and it's still a on and out process. Mrs Rosa is the GOAT! She washes hair like I've never had my scalp washed before. She'll recommend additional services if needed but doesn't force them on you. Usually you worry about who is doing the cutting and want to watch during a trim but she absolutely makes you comfortable and confirms the cut before cutting. If this salon is not top tier I don't know what is. I do recommend calling ahead since COVID appointments are required..
