Hair Chateau in Hamden, CT

Go go go! My first visit. The minute you walk in you see a beautiful, serene salon. All the women are friendly, like a family. Ashley cut and colored me and I was thrilled with the results! She took her time,with so much detail the color and glaze she did  took her about 2 hours. I used to go to an upscale salon that styled local celebraties but Hair Chateau blew them out of the water! Plus very resonably priced, Even though it took me about 45 minutes to get there, I can't wait to go back! As I said, go,go go!!!

I signed up for Yelp just to create this review. Myself and my grandma had a horrible experience with this salon.

My grandmother is new to the area and was looking for a new hair salon. We wanted to try Hair Chateau because of all the positive reviews online. She had an appointment this morning for 9:30. I went to take her, and the addy she wrote down took us to someone's house. We called the salon and they varified we were at the wrong location (my grandma is hard of hearing and took down the wrong house number). We were only 10 min from the salon's correct location, and the women we spoke with over the phone said that would be fine, we can still make the appointment.

At 9:43 we pull into the parking lot of the salon. We get a call from the salon saying our appointment was now canceled. The women stated that if you miss the appointment by 20 min they have to cancel, which is understandable. However we explained we weren't 20 min late and we were assured over the phone that we would still be able to keep the appointment just 10 min prior. She didn't care. I explained that my grandmother really needs this appointment, was looking forward to it, because she can't drive and it's hard for her to get someone to take her to appointments. She didn't care. Asked if we wanted to reschedule and I said I didn't know I had to go home and check my grandma's calander. She then asked a second time, "okay, so, would you like to reschedule now?" To which I repeated, no I can't do that right now.

To summarize: whoever is in charge of booking appointments and handling the phones is rude, unhelpful, unreasonable, and clearly doesn't listen (she even had my grandma down for the wrong appt, she was supposed to get a cut AND color but was only put down for a cut). We will not be going here ever. You guys lost a potential new customer.

I can't say enough good things about Hair Chateau.  I have been going here for 15 years. They've done my wedding (which was how I started going) to current.  I have gone to Emma and Laura.  They may be on the higher end cost-wise, but worth it!  They take their time with you...consult, then work the cut then dry/style and work it some more.  I appreciate that they take pride in their work.  Have NEVER had a bad cut.

Have been a customer  for 30 yrs but cannot get to leave any voice-mail at all
Other  salons are contacting  their customers  and am wondering  why this is not happening  here.Just call me Shaggy  and Sad

These ladies are great. This place is worth the price, I paid $35 for a cut there recently, which is steep for a men's haircut but SO worth it. Ashley cut my hair perfectly last time, and she was also just a cool person. Great to chat with. Of course they've got the standard coffee/tea offerings, and they give your hair a rinse after the cut which is nice.
