Guys & Dolls Salon & Spa in Lansing, MI

My rating before Covid would have been 5 stars with Ella. She was great. My rating as of 8/14/2020 is 1 star. Terrible color experience with Jodi. It was a brassy disaster. Needed a toner because the highlights were over processed. She did not offer it, too concerned about her awaiting client instead of fixing my hair when I was still in her chair. Also, they had zero Covid screening or precautions except masks. No temperature taken, no washing hands by clients, no Covid questionnaire, and no sanitizing that I saw after I sat in a dryer chair. Went to salon down the street after my appt., I walked in, they said "omg, you need some toner", got me in, had proper Covid protocol with hand washing and Covid questionnaire. Guys and Dolls needs to follow Covid protocol and not schedule color/highlights with stylists who have no clue what they are doing.

I went for a haircut and brow wax. "Margaret" didn't listen to a word I said. She randomly cut chunks out of my hair but didn't really shorten it which is what I asked her to do. When she found out I work for a school she spent the entire time I was there complaining about her children's teacher, fully expecting me to agree with her. Without asking she slathered my hair with product and used hair spray which I avoid because it triggers migraines . She never did the eyebrow wax or asked me if my haircut was okay. Avoid this stylist at all costs, she's terrible.

The experience was good overall. Salon is very clean and comfortable. I'm looking forward to trying done of their other services.

I came here for a eyebrow wax with Maggie and I have never been so disappointed. I didn't think you could screw up a wax this bad. I left and when I got home I realized I still had a uni brow. It wasn't even touched. One side of my lip is waxed and the other was still random long hair. I had her re do my chin because I noticed while I was there the amount of hair still left. I am not a hairy girl! This shouldn't have been hard. I purchased a groupon for a facial and also waited 30 mins before being seen. Never will come here again.

I just got a shellac manicure here and I kid you not when I say it is the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I could have done a better job in my sleep. I could tell immediately it wasn't going to go well when she continued to get nail polish on my fingers, but I didn't think it would be this bad. Every nail has a rough lumpy texture and my thumb chipped without me doing anything (and I just left the salon 10 minutes ago). I called to talk to a manager but none were available. I would leave one star but the manicurist was friendly but she probably shouldn't be professionally doing anyone's nails. $40 down the drain.
