The haircut was okay, but the twenty minutes sales pitch for Tea Tree oil shampoo was over the top. I wish this company would pay the stylist more so they didn't have to rely on bonus money by selling products!
Did my hair today morning, I just love this place, Emely is such a nice person and she knows what she s doing. Uses proper chemicals for hair and the best quslity. I higly recommend this place
We went here because our usual barber had raised their prices to $35 for a haircut. We thought we would save a little bit of money, and sure- the haircut might not be as great, but I'm devoid of any fashion sense, so I probably wouldn't even notice.
Let me clarify, this 1 star review has little to do with the admittedly mediocre haircuts we received. Instead it has EVERYTHING to do with the aggressively terrible customer service. The older gentleman with piercings and a holster for his barber tools, was singularly the most standoffish and irate employee I have ever met in any job that involves customer service.
He was irate when I went to tell them we had checked in online, because I did not immediately offer my kid brother's name which I was never prompted to enter online (we were labelled my name + 1). Upon beginning my kid brother's haircut, he rattled off haircut details faster than an auctioneer from whatever haircut he got multiple years ago and gave us no time to even consider what he said before immediately setting about cutting his hair.
The woman who cut my hair spent a quarter of my haircut trying to sell me on teatree shampoo (which I politely declined 4x). That's fine, that's her job. But then she pulled up my hair, and immediately started commenting on the small amount of acne on my forehead. She lectured me about how I should be using teatree shampoo so I can "get rid of my pimples like her teenage son". Every time she moved my head she did so with one finger ON THE SINGLE PIMPLE ON MY FOREHEAD. There was ONE spot she should logically not be using to push and reposition my head- SHE HIT IT EVERY TIME.
During this time the older gentleman moved onto another customer right next to me and was summarily rude to them as well. The wife of the man whose hair he was cutting asked for it a little bit shorter at which point the 'barber' rudely responded "Well, THAT'S why I asked if this should be #xyz on the clipper".
At no point did they use numbers or information that someone who doesn't cut hair for a living would understand. They used the numbers on the clippers. Why would we know that?
The two other employees that we did not work with, however, seemed entirely pleasant human beings.
This was the first time I have ever not tipped for a haircut. The only benefit of going to this particular Great Clips is it put into perspective that the $35 for our regular place is worth every penny.
To the rude older gentleman at the center of this review, I hope you read it and either attempt to develop customer service skills or stop acting like you're better than Great Clips, because God knows you did not deserve the praise you lavished upon yourself after completing my little brother's mediocre haircut.
I've been going to this great clips since my granddaughter was very young. I have had horrid cuts and some great cuts before finding Tammy who cuts my hair just right. After three years going to Tammy I have been told I can no longer request a stylist. Very sad...you lost a client and that clients family because of you short slightness and unwilling to work around what you saw as a problem.
I promptly went across the street to Supercuts, got a good haircut (not as good as Tammy's) and will be taking all my business and family there from now on. Tom was great to work with over at Supercuts!
I've been taking my kids here for years and years. Normally my daughter and I go to a different salon. Ow that she is older. She needed a haircut and I just needed a trim. My long curly hair was down to my lower back. The ends were needing snipped. Maybe 3 inches at the most. The lady that cut my hair kept trying to convince me to cut more off because she said my hair would look better in a ponytail if it was shorter but I said I liked my hair long. Actually I love my long hair and had been growing it for a while. Figured once I was ready to really cut my hair short, I'd donate it. My mom is currently going through chemotherapy and I have a heart for cancer patients.
Well, as it turns out, my hair is now 9 INCHES SHORTER.
The hairstylist kept having to even out this side and then even out that side and before I knew what was happening, almost half my hair was gone. She was so busy trying to sell me a holiday tea tree shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner box set that she was distracted and just kept cutting.
I kept a brave face after my initial sob of "my hair is too short", paid for our cuts and left. I'm no a person to freak out or cause a scene so I just went home, cried and wrote this yelp review.
I just wanted my split ends cut off
