Galatea Beauty Salon in Harrisburg, PA

I needed my hair fixed as just over 3 weeks ago a stylist hacked my hair. I came here for the very first time and am so pleased with the care taken for my cut. I will be going back for sure and definitely recommend. The atmosphere and staff are professional and welcoming!

I recently moved to Harrisburg, and I was looking for a new salon to get a badly needed shaping for my wedge cut. I chose Galatea, and I'm so glad I did. Erin was friendly and energetic, and she set up an appointment to meet my convenience. When I arrived at the beautifully decorated salon, Erin greeted me enthusiastically, and immediately made me feel comfortable. I explained what I was looking for in a cut, and together, we worked out the details of what needed to be done to shape it as desired. Erin took several minutes to analyze my hair and how it might best fall into place. As she was cutting, she explained what she was doing, asked for my agreement on several things, and kept me engaged the entire time. At the end of the appointment, I had exactly the cut I came in for. I had been using a stylist in CA for 4 years, and she never cut it quite as nicely as Erin did her first time! I set up our next appointment and fully intend to continue with Erin as my stylist.

I have had my hair done in many places from here in Harrisburg to Philadelphia. As an Asian, I have had my hair done by Asian hairstylists, but not with an American. Last Friday, my sister and I got out hair done at this place to prepare for prom. The hairstylist saw us at the window, and I believe she recognized that my mom, sister, and I were a bit timid and unsure if we could go in. However, the first thing I saw was an optimistic, happy, and welcoming smile. She introduced herself as Erin (if I spelled that right) and gave me and my family a hand shake. She also introduced to her coworker, Vivian, who's daughter is actually a junior that goes to the same high school as me. Vivian's daughter and her friend were also very nice, as they were getting prepared as well. The daughter's friend was getting her nails done by her father, who I believe is the main manicurist of the salon. So when I showed Erin what I wanted for my hairstyle, she and Vivian ultimately showed their determination that anything is possible. Erin complimented on my hair, that it was long, thick (Usually when people say my hair is thick, it sounds kind of negative, but with her it wasn't.), with a beautiful color, and that it would be easy to achieve the hair that I wanted based on the picture that I showed. So, I got my hair washed and as I and my sister were getting our hair styled, we had some fun supporting our fellow underclassmen (even though we did not know them fully) as they get dressed up for prom. Their hair, make up, dress, and everything else was so beautiful ~ ! As time goes on, I never thought my sister's and my hair would become so different. You see, we never had our hair curled for years (for my sister, it may be her first time). Erin and Vivian did so well checking to see if we liked it or not, and if they need to make any adjustments, based on our tastes. In the end, it looked so beautiful, even though I tried to loosen the curls more once I got out of the salon, but it wasn't Erin's fault, I showed her two pictures and I should've tell her to do a combination of both. However, we ended up going to the prom feeling confident and beautiful thanks to these two. It ended up being $95 for each of us, however it was really worth it, and I really suggest going here. So far this could be the best service I had ever had from a hair salon in my entire life. I really felt I've made new friends in there.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE....that's about ll I can say! There is 1 manicurist and 1 hairdresser--they are sisters that don't speak to each other so that puts tension on the situation to begin with! They are rarely available when you want an appointment, I guess it's too inconvenient for them to be there when they're "supposed to be open"--according to the hours on the door. And if by chance you do get an appointment all they do is GOSSIP about others that you may know. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON AT ALL!!!!!

Incredibly nice & professional staff. They did all of my wedding (and wedding party) nails. Wonderful job and a relaxing low-key environment.
